Set just off the A661 Wetherby Road corridor to Harrogate Town’s stadium, The Travellers Rest works as a pre-match stop. The pub serves home-cooked meals (see its menu) and keeps cask Theakston ales, so you can get a proper lunch and a pint before kick-off. Practicalities are decent for matchday logistics: WhatPub notes on-site parking and that it’s close to bus routes, making it easier to get to and from the ground without driving into the immediate stadium area. Football Ground Guide confirms the stadium is on Wetherby Road (HG2 7SA), aligning with the pub’s A661 access, so it’s a straightforward hop to the match.
Popped in after a visit to rudding park pool and had a nice meal. The pub is very old with lots of lovely original features. Has a nice outdoor area. Toilets are pretty original as well could do with an update. The food was very good. Lovely homemade chips. The kids fish fingers was nice although would have preferred the batter a little crispier. The Sunday roast was nice. Really nice meats and mash and stuffing. The roasts and veggies could have been a bit more well done for me. Lovely service.
The food and service is amazing and it’s good value for money will definitely be back next time we stop at harrogate caravan park nice walk across the field definitely worth a visit and we will definitely be back we had 2 staters 2 Sunday lunch 2 gin and tonics and 2 pints £70 amazing value
Traditional country pub just a 10 min walk for the Yorkshire Showground campsite. Large tasty portions. Attached menu in pics with current prices. 2 large Sunday lunches, one dessert, a pint of lager and a coke £58.
The food here was amazing , in fact the best salmon meal i have ever eaten ! The chef even cooked a beautiful salmon skin for our dog Ruby! My husband had the steak and Ale pie , it was also fantastic! Quality , taste , presentation and great super friendly staff to serve! The chefs Apple / blackcurrant crumble was out of this world and i simply had to ask his secret! We thank you and will definitely return to Harrogate just to visit the Travellers rest. Thank you! Pauline and Mick Kilbride and 🐾 Ruby
Service couldn’t have been better but the fish and chips unfortunately was dreadful. The fish batter was more like a banana fritter, really doughy and borderline raw. Not great given the price point. My fault for not saying anything at the time really! I ate fish and chips here a few years back and it was fantastic, not sure what changed. Worth mentioning the rest of my group enjoyed their food and their dishes looked fab
