The hotel room is small and the fixtures , windows & furniture are old fashioned. Nevertheless they look clean and usable. The table fan was very cute The WiFi is intermittent and very slow. Ample car park and everything is accessible.
Stayed recently at the Manor Hotel as we were attending a funeral in Yeovil. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant was good with excellent service from the staff. We had a double room and a superior room, both were clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The water for the shower was not very hot in the superior room and the rooms do need a bit of tlc as mentioned in other reviews. Breakfast a little disappointing, no smoked salmon available which my son had been looking forward to with his eggs royale!! and the previous night there was no coffee available as the machine had broken in the bar. Definitely recommend though for its perfect location and a lovely old building full of charm. Great to walk into the town and also for the really lovely park that is five minutes walk away. Thumbs up to the staff tho, makes all the difference to a stay.
Had a lovely 'late'' mothers day lunch, due to working yesterday, Food was gorgeous, and hot, served on hot plates, clean and fresh. We ate in the conservatory and the surroundings were very pleasant with plenty of space. We chose off the 2 Meals/Drinks for £30 menu, and it was superb value for money. We then had to indulge in the Cheesecake for desert, no complaints from us. Served by Richard who was very pleasant and a wonderful host.
We booked a Sunday lunch here with our daughter and her partner as we could meet halfway. We didn't know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. It's nothing to look at from outside and it's a bit run down. It could do with some TLC! However we were pleasantly surprised when we were shown the dining area, which is in a light and airy conservatory. Then the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was served in good time and was really lovely, both main courses and desserts, plus drinks. What's more the price was reasonable and there was no pressure to leave, so we could stop and chat for some time. Just as well we didn't have to go outside, as the heavens opened while we were there!
We visited for a manager’s meal with a group of five. The highlight of the evening was our server, she did a brilliant job looking after around ten tables all by herself. Her service was attentive and hardworking, and she truly did the best she could. Unfortunately, the overall food service was quite disappointing. We arrived around 6pm and weren’t seated for about 10 minutes. Our drinks and order were taken promptly, but the wait times that followed were far too long. Starters took around 10–15 minutes, mains arrived roughly 30 minutes after that, and dessert was delayed to the point where we had to cancel it entirely. We waited around 45 minutes for two desserts, the Bramley Apple and Blackcurrant Crumble Pie and the Vegan Caramelised Biscuit Cheesecake, before deciding to leave. We ended up leaving around 8:30pm without dessert due to the delays and dissatisfaction. Only after the meal were we told there was a large group booking, likely a Christmas party, which seemed to cause the long wait times. This really felt like poor management and understaffing, especially during such a busy season. Overall, The Manor felt very overrated compared to how much it’s talked about. Based on this experience, I’m not sure I would return or recommend it to others. A big thank you to the server who did an amazing job under pressure, she was the best part of the visit.
