I'm not one to leave reviews normally but having an opportunity to go out for a nice roast dinner with my partner this place seemed a good fit. This is my honest opinion of the food we went for the Sunday calvery so I can't comment on other food on the menu but are roasts we're bland over cooked and very dry my partner and I both had the pork his contained string in it from the pork, as a couple alone we were placed in the middle of the dining room as 2 very introverted people this was quite uncomfortable surrounded by a large family and other diners you kind of feel centred out. I must say though staff seem friendly enough just wasn't the best dining experience especially for 40 pounds I could have spent elsewhere and had tasty food
Nice meal food could have been hotter cauliflower cheese a little less mushey As a carvery meat should be cut on request not presliced as meat loses temperature all in all happy with overall meal
One star awarded only because the place, during this reviewers visit, was closed - it being a Covid casualty. I'm sure the place deserves more than this. Indeed, being on the Cask Marque Ale Trail (and the original purpose of the sojourn) would have earned it 5 stars forthwith. This will not be my final appraisal - reading the notes of others, there is much to commend the establishment for. Watch this space dear reader.
I took an 89 year old friend to have the Sunday carvery. The food was perfect and the staff were really friendly and kind. My friend said that the meat was lovely, and tender, rather necessary with 89 year old teeth! She also said that the atmosphere was like being amongst friends and that this was her favourite place to eat. Mine too!
