The Victorian Craft Beer Café is a celebrated venue in Halifax, offering a diverse selection of beers from progressive UK breweries and a range of Belgian options. Its proximity to the Victoria Theatre and the Piece Hall makes it a convenient stop for both home and away football fans. The pub hosts events like the 'Back in Black' dark beer festival, attracting a wide audience. While it doesn't explicitly cater to football fans, its welcoming atmosphere and central location make it a popular choice for matchday gatherings.
Great selection of beers. Felt comfortable as a line visitor. I will be back! An i came back. Very cosy on a wet winter's day
Great craft bar in Halifax. Excellent range of drinks and a delicious selection of pork pies! Service is always friendly and the bar has a fantastic atmosphere, and has a real quirky feeling, very different to lots of other bars in town. Highly recommend
My better half and I popped in here at opening time today for a coffee and a cup of tea, both of which were excellent. I was driving so couldn't sample the beers, sadly, but as someone who's a bit of a beer snob, I was impressed with the range of beers on tap and in bottles - maybe 20 listed on the board in front of the bar, and some very good Belgian and German beers behind. The only letdown was seeing the Chimay blue and some other fine Belgian darks being kept in the fridge, which should be against the law; those are much better served at room temperature, guys. Something tells me, however, that if I'd asked for a room-temp beer, they'd have gladly fetched me one from the very well-stocked store room downstairs. Beers aside, the layout and decor were amazing - unexpected staircases and passageways, little nooks and cosy corners, as well as more open spaces for larger groups; books on shelves everywhere, board games in the upstairs room, wonderful Victorian paintings, pictures and black-and-white photos on the walls. The whole place - including the toilets, happily - was clean and well-kept. As we were leaving, we just had to ask about the history of the place. The bar staff member who replied couldn't have been more friendly and informative, telling us about the past lives of this fascinating building, even bringing out some old photographs to show us. I'll be sure to revisit next time I'm in Halifax - and hopefully next time I won't be driving so will be able to sample a few of the fine beers on offer.
First visit but won't be the last. Extensive choice of beers , fab place
Popped in for a drink before the Chris Hoy talk at the theatre. Great place with excellent beer choice. Plenty of seating and just round the corner from the theatre
