📍 2.6 miles from The Jakemans Community Stadium
The Ball House is a family-run pub located approximately 2 miles from the Jakemans Community Stadium, making it a convenient choice for both home and away fans. The pub offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a beer garden and a log burner, providing a comfortable setting for supporters before and after matches. While there is no explicit mention of the pub showing live football, its community-oriented events and family-friendly environment make it a suitable spot for fans to gather. The pub also serves a variety of homemade dishes, including a popular Sunday carvery, catering to diverse dietary requirements.
I have heard great personal reviews for this place, so I decided to have a Sunday carvery here, (note, pre-booking is highly recommended, as it is so popular and busy at this place for good reasons). Upon us both arriving, everything was well organised and explained by the staff, including a notice on the table that stated the order that our table will be processed and called when the carvery is ready for us, to avoid queuing too long, this is how it is so efficient and is a customer friendly focussed place. After one of the best Carvery meals I have eaten, we noticed that in the rear beer gardens, the lovely landlords had another surprise, live music from their own stage that they have built in the gardens to entertain their customers. Unfortunately, I missed the Robbie Williams tribute set, due to enjoying my food too much, but I was more than happy after I finished eating inside, spending the next few hours watching the next set who where Scoundrel Dayz, singing lots of 80's hits, of which, got everyone dancing to their amazing music. When The Ball House switched from carvery service to the outside music venue, everything was handled smoothly, including a new outside menu making sure people who were peckish, were looked after. All of the staff have been highly trained and attentive, I could not fault any aspect of my visit to The Ball House.
The Ball House were fantastic in hosting our mums funeral. They were easy to deal with and so accommodating which made the whole day easier. Food buffet was spot on and plenty of it. Thank you.
Like many others reviewing The Ball House I had heard good things. I'm glad to say that we weren't let down. We went for the Sunday Roast, the food was excellent. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. One thing that we tend to look for is places which are dog friendly. It is so nice to go somewhere that considers your dog as important as you, if not more so. A final word for Andy and Marie, who run the pub, this is clearly more than a business. They are passionate about what they d and It shows with them front of house mingling with the customers. A really nice couple running a proper pub.
Ok, so , I want to be honest here. I’ve never been in this place, seen it all my life and used the car park probably a hundred times as a meeting place. The young man opened the door and was more than welcoming. I mean he really was. The trouble is, the place was freezing and all we went in for was a cup of tea and I think it was from a machine and it tasted of hard water. I don’t want to leave this place a bad review but I do write reviews and it was certainly bad tea. The boy with the pierced eyebrows was lovely though.
Not the first time we've been here, but the first time we've taken the dog with us. We were all made to feel welcome...the dog was definitely spoiled! Food was lovely as always. Regular portion was ample for us, although there is the choice of a large if required. Staff are all very friendly, pleasant and helpful.
