📍 1.9 miles from Vitality Stadium
In Bournemouth town centre (BH1 2AD), The Mary Shelley has TV screens and a projector, and is listed with Sky Sports and multiple screens—useful for catching early/late kick-offs. It opens from 8am most days and closes late, and serves a full menu throughout the day for pre- or post-match meals. CAMRA's WhatPub notes it is close to bus routes at Bournemouth Square and about 1.1 km from Bournemouth railway station, making onward travel to the Vitality Stadium straightforward by bus or taxi.
I had such a lovely experience at The Mary Shelley Wetherspoon. As always, the food was amazing fresh, well-prepared, and absolutely delicious. The toilets were exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The hourly checks were up to date, which really shows how much care they put into hygiene. There’s honestly nothing to complain about. Everything was spot on, from the food to the cleanliness. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great food in a clean and well-managed environment.
I absolutely love the restaurant chain Wetherspoon. I always enjoy coming here. The food is delicious, the portions are good, and everything is served quite quickly. It’s especially nice that the quality stays high no matter which location you visit. The service is also excellent — the staff are polite, attentive, and always ready to help. I also really like the atmosphere: it’s cozy and relaxed, perfect for spending time with friends or just having dinner after a long day. For me, Wetherspoon is a place where you can always count on good food, great prices, and excellent service. ⭐️
Dreadful! First time here as we normally visit the other Spoons in town. Thought we'd try this one. What a mistake that was. Firstly the cutlery was dirty. Then when the food came the wrong sauce was brought over. Instead of fixing the issues, the male "manager" argued with us saying the sauce wasn't wrong. He went away and got the correct sauce but he still had to make a point that the sauce wasn't wrong. Then the onion rings were overcooked and black. See photo. Never again would we come in this Spoons. Bad attitude from male "manager" and poor food quality and cleanliness. Avoid!
I am a regular customer at Wetherspoons pubs and usually find the standard reasonable and consistent. Unfortunately, my recent visit to this particular branch was well below any acceptable standard. The breakfast served to me was extremely poor. I am surprised that food in that condition was sent out from the kitchen at all. I have experienced disappointing food here before, but never to this extent.
Great price at spoons. Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein. Buried at St Peter Church across the road. You know you get and what you pay for. Meal with a drink (soft) for £8. Taking a family of 5 for under £50 is excellent value for money. Service very good and meals come out fast. Always pop in for a quick breakfast.
