The Three Tuns is a historic Grade II listed pub located on Coppergate in York, established in 1782. Its central location makes it a convenient stop for both home and away supporters visiting the city. The pub offers a traditional atmosphere with a selection of real ales and ciders, providing a classic pub experience. While there is no explicit mention of live football screenings, the pub's central position and traditional offerings make it a welcoming spot for fans.
That evening we were looking for somewhere cozy to go to. While admiring this pub from the outside (very British style and part of the Cat Hunt of York) a local customer was coming out and told us it was worth a visit! We trusted him and it was a very good choice. Food and beer have a very high quality standard and very good quality-price balance and service is fast! For tourists: in English pubs there is no table service (or it’s very rare) so when you order you have to go to the counter, place the order, pay, get your drinks and they’ll bring over the food.
Visited here on trip to York. The service was great and had a lovely beer. The coffees were great too. I had the chilli for dinner and really enjoyed it. I asked for half chips and rice was told this wasn't possible. I think they could have accommodated this. The beef stew had loads of meat very generous portions
Great pub with great food. Very much appreciated on a wet and foggy day in York.
Like many others, this claims to be one of the oldest pubs in York. However, it is lovely and exactly what you'd expect. A great range of food and beers, served by helpful staff.
Absolutely amazing little pub, lots of good proper ales and ciders on tap. Bloke at the bar who's only working temporarily, but has stayed on, gave us great advice on beer and had a great chat about bands/music. Decided to stay here for a couple extra pints. They're part of the Rudgate Ale Trail too!
