Been drinking in the pub for years but decided one Sunday to grab a table for some food with my family. Pleasantly spirited how good it was. Quick service, tasty food, managed to get a seat by the fire in the dining half of the pub. Waitress even managed to provide my son with a lunch not on the menu (fussy eater) Always busy so may need to book when we wish to come back.

Went here for my hubby to watch a football match. It was pretty busy and we weren't allowed to move two stools nearer to the bar, in order to watch the match. I left my hubby there and went into the quieter bar that had a fire in it. Drinks were OK and it is a nice old cozy pub.

Lovely pub. We visited for lunch while we were visiting York on a day trip. Pub had a really cost vibe, and the dining room was nice and quiet. We had beef brisket and chicken & leeks pies which were so good. And the service was really nice and warm too. Would recommend both for food and just for a cosy drink. Has a really nice and covered outside space too

Lovely a cozy pub inside and outside. We had the food and the steak pie was amazing. We stayed for the life music and the atmosphere was really good and the guy working at the front door (Matthew) is definitely the best promoter to bring people in the pub. Hopefully people behind the bar can learn from him as they were a bit moody. Overall great pub and definitely when we are back in York we would come back here.

well, just bobbed in with friends after a visit to the shambles. wasn't disappointed, food was great, nice atmosphere, they moved chairs so we can get a highchair. we misused the service charge n gave the cash to the waitress. highly recommend here. Veronica on draught too.
