What an amazing way to travel back in time with a good beer. The inside of this pub is unchanged in over 100 years and is a real throwback. It's really small so expect to get cozy, but luckily the regulars are very friendly and chatty so that adds to the experience rather than detracting. Very knowledgeable and experienced landlord/bar man who shared a tale and a smile and some great cask beers to try. This really is a must try venue for anyone who enjoys ale and/or history. (Apparently York City FC were formed in the back room here too).

A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular. Two small rooms with a central bar. Tends to fill up quickly on opening. Jorvic has not been able to get through the door on our last few trips. The side corridor gets very busy but we had it to ourselves today. Had a pint of bitter from Wold Top brewery. Very good. Seven real ales plus a cider. Great pub, good luck getting in.

Fantastic old traditional, small pub. Just enjoyed the fine beers and didn't eat - so no rating for food. Brilliant service, friendly staff. So good we forgo our usual trip to Thirsk, and returned here the next day! Well worth the visit πŸ‘
