Stopped in for a cup of coffee and excellent hot sandwiches on a busy Saturday afternoon. What an amazing place! Lovely staff and great vibe. Didn’t realise quite how big it was until going for a search for the loos!! Will definitely be back for a drink or three
Really nice place and it is huge! We tried the two different soups with the ultimate potato's and they were both really nice. For my the creamy chicken was too salty but I'm not a salt fan! Prices were reasonable and the selection of beer was alright. The bartender and server were really friendly. Atmosphere was great with music on and candles lit. The artwork is very interesting on every floor. Certainly for those with an open mind and an acquired taste! Worth a visit for sure.
One of two Houses of... This one on Lendal offered a quirky sense of homeliness in the random furnishing. The staff member was very friendly and she was ready to explain anything about the beer menu. The Black Forest Gateaux Stout was a phenomenal pint. We had a pressing engagement nearby, otherwise another one or two of these would have complemented a great visit to York.
Dropped by for a variety of stouts on a quiet Friday night. Ambience was great, lots of festive vibes and everyone having good fun. Tried three stouts - anspach and hobday (nice coffee notes), brew York - a walnut milk stout ( my favourite, almost like a chocolate milk; though not as creamy as I would have liked it), and vocation, an orange chocolate stout (mellow and easy drinking). 21 gbp. Bartender was warm, prompt and helpful with suggestions. Would certainly recommend dropping by on a visit to York. Take in the English culture albeit a few pints in a pub in York!
Great beef sandwiches dunked in gravy! Beers and ciders great as well. The atmosphere and the service were very nice. If you are nearby, it is a must!
