We used to come to this pub all the time. The staff used to be welcoming and were always so friendly. However, the last few months it’s been completely different. It’s clearly changed hands or something as we don’t see any of the old staff anymore. the first few times we went in there after this point the bar man was more interested in his phone than serving us. The bar was dirty and we always had to get his attention for drinks. Before the management change the staff would notice we had finished and come to us asking if we needed a drink. They would make conversation with us and get to know us. Now there’s just none of this. It’s almost as if we are bothering them when we need a drink. We also went in recently and waited a while for a drink. When we finally did get the attention of the bar staff they said ‘can’t you see I’m talking.’ The pub is just so unwelcoming now. It’s such a shame. We used to love it.
Been there at a Friday evening and it was great! Callum was working behind the counter and he was very polite and friendly, great guy! A band set up inside the pub and played some good quality music, nothing too loud and definitely elevating the whole atmosphere. Bonus points for the delicious Brazilian bbq that is being served there during the weekends, at the rear garden. Bottom line, great pub!
The Crown was undergoing a transition in ownership. I visited the establishment for the first time in two decades to attend a musical performance. The venue offers an appealing open area with views of a flood plain.
(Reviews based on past summer) Feels like it's full of rogue trader types on a Friday afternoon, has no ale on tap, BBQ set up that looked far from compliant with basic food safety. Great for young crowds in the summer that want to drink all day and stand outside late at night shouting at each other. Seems the new management are addressing these issues, hopefully it will improve and be more welcoming going forward.
A nice pub located in Old Woking. The exterior looks vibrant as the place stands out as clearly visible in the photos, absolutely loved this fact and it honestly caught my eye from far away whilst walking towards the pub. There's seating options available - inside as well as outdoors facing a small stream. The ambience is 10/10. There is a good variety available in terms of children's menu and a small play area for them. Definitely has a very homely and positive vibe A must visit if your around the place.
