Visited the Beech House for the first time on Friday for lunch. Fortunately we ubered it to the pub. As previous posts have said there is limited parking, I counted about 14 spaces however there are loads of car parks around Solihull within a short walk to the pub. We were greeted promptly and warmly and reminded if we had a car to register it, very useful if you parked there to avoid a charge. Valentina showed us to a lovely table overlooking the bar and we immediately felt comfortable. She then told us that there were ingredients not available on the menu which enabled us to view the menu and adjust our choices with that information. She took our drinks order and left us to peruse the menu. We went by the glass for our wine which works out more expensive but he wanted red and I the white. Both were delightful. We had thought of having a starter but decided against as the prawns were off the menu, however we did plump for their bread and oil with a side of olives. The bread is cooked to order in their woodfired pizza oven and came out fresh and hot and Paul said the olives were lovely. On passing us I asked valentina for some more olive oil which she produced pronto. As it was my first time here I plumped for a burger as I always benchmark a new place with this dish to see how they do. Paul wanted the amatriciana with prawns but as they were unavailable he asked if he could substitute chicken instead. After checking with the chef she told us it was no problem. The burger patty itself was moist and very flavourful, in fact one of the better burgers I've had in a long time. I had a side of peppercorn sauce which again was spot on. Paul's pasta was lovely he eventually told me in between mouthfuls. He said it had a lovely amount of heat and the added chicken was tasty. I must say the portion size was good too. We skipped dessert although he went for an espresso and vanilla icecream which he enjoyed and of course I went for an espresso martini; my usual if I skip a dessert. The atmosphere in the place was great. Although it was not overly busy for a Friday lunch there was still a buzz. We were comfortable where we were seated and well attended to by the staff. Apparently although the restaurant can't accommodate puppy friends they told us that the seated bar area can for lunch or dinner, but I suspect it's wise to call them to book a table in that area. The breadth of their menu is what tempted us to try here and after our first experience we'll be back. The only problem is what do I choose next from their freshly cooked menu. Thank you for a lovely afternoon valentina and the Beech House.
Highly recommend this place! Beautiful and atmospheric restaurant with fresh food served in generous portions. Loved the open kitchen and the very friendly service. Tomas and Francesco who looked after us that day were especially lively and welcoming. Definitely worth visiting!
So the food was surprisingly good here. The things that let this place down: ladies toilets were in bad state of repair with one toilet blocked and only one hand soap dispenser working. The (large) restaurant was cold. We were moved, on request, to a 'warmer ' part, the 'wood room' that's not actually a separate room, and they put the heating unit on, which started to blow cold air out after 10 min, so it was still really chilly. Parking.. there's a very small car park behind the pub, which was full, so we ended up parking at Lode lane car park, which is 0.4 miles walk away, something to bear in mind if you have people with limited mobility with you. As I said the food was very good, which was a pleasant surprise as our impressions before the food came out, weren't that high. That said, we received 4 meals together but the 5th, a pizza, took another 10 min to arrive. (The dining area was no more than 40% full). The whole place is a little tired and not as nice looking in reality as it is in the pictures shown on line. We had gone their for a family meal. We'd have had a better Overall experience dining in one of the many other local eateries.
Had a very nice Guinness and a sausage brioche bun here at the Beech House at a reasonable price. Parking is free when you validate your car at the screen on one of the counters, there are limited spaces. Great service and great food.
We absolutely love this place and usually come at least once a week. The food selection is great as well as the drinks selection. The location and atmosphere are great. The entire staff led by Rachael are amazing and look after everyone very well. Can’t say enough good things about the Beech House. Rachael and team are welcoming and look after each guest with great service!!! Highly recommend!
