Proper pub, great music, great people who run it and I love you spot especially in the Summer I see someone put one star and said they have just moved into the area. The prices are very steep so they go to Wetherspoons and drink Who wants to drink out of date beer? Not for me rather pay little bit more and have a decent point and company.
Stayed two nights...room, very clean, fresh, well stocked for tea n coffee... Spent an evening in the pub with the band playing...what a fantastic atmosphere...a proper local pub...great clientele... Definitely would stay again.. Staff were very helpful, friendly and kind.
Its a pub not a hotel. It next to the river and a great local pub with good ale, namely Tribute. Decent pool table, good dart board and a decent jukebox. Its basic but I love it. I repeat: this is not a hotel. Its a pub
Stayed here for one night on our 7 day walk along the St James's way from reading to southampton. This Inn was actually on the route and was a great place to rest our weary bones overnight. Beds were comfy, the shower was hot and powerfull, the staff were friendly and very friendly and there was complimentary tea, coffee and water and milk in a little fridge. The pub, as you would expect, was a bit noisy until 11pm but nothing terrible. Great stopover all in all.
Lovely proper old pub with views of the iconic River Itchen across the road and occasional fly fishers. Great bunch of locals and a friendly welcome to passers-by. The rooms are a little compact but cleanliness is 100% I don't understand the negative comments about the welcome from staff as I have only ever seen a friendly welcome. Perhaps staff were having a difficult day? I think reviewers should go more than once to get a real feel of the place. Comparing it to spoons is just ridiculous, like Comparing McDonald's to The Ivy, totally different experience that many of us are happy to pay a little more for.
