Walkabout Carlisle is a central matchday base on Botchergate with huge HD screens and listings specifically for live football. The venue carries Sky Sports and TNT Sports, so it shows Premier League, EFL and European fixtures, and it promotes dedicated football pages for checking fixtures. Food is served from lunchtime through the evening, which helps for pre-match meetups or post-match refuelling, and it opens late at weekends, making it a useful spot after the game. Carlisle United’s own away-fan guide states that, in general, travelling supporters can use any pub in the city except two named home-only venues—so Walkabout typically caters to both home and away fans on matchdays.
The old Walkabout in the middle of Carlisle. Very much with the same vibes and clientele. It's big and well located. The staff are nice and helpful. Mix of other patrons in there will depend on the night / luck. Selection of drinks is rather mainstream and nothing special. Sports screen throughout, showing the major stuff. Some are at questionable angles. Might have a buzz to it, with younger people in there (if you are looking for that) on weekend nights, was pretty empty when I visited. It passable, but nothing amazing
Nice place. Friendly staff. Well priced pints. £1 pool table.
The bouncers didn't check our IDs and while I was in the patio area, I was told by a bouncer to have 'some respect for myself' even though there were many people wearing much less than me as it was Halloween. Also, my friend wasnt allowed back in after having fresh air and was unable to get their things. The bouncers were incredibly unprofessional and were acting like they were on a power trip instead of prioritising the safety of the customers.
This was a fantastic pub for lunch, with a very jubilant interior! This is contributed to from the surfboards and other designs, lighting adds to the scene and the counter is well-presented too. I had a yummy beef burger with amazing fries and a refreshing pint of Strongbow, sitting comfortable at large seating for a clean table!
Been a couple of times when we've been passing through Carlisle. The food is ok for what you get, feel like the prices don't reflect the portions. The tables seem to always be sticky too.
