Matchdays are easy here: the pub is listed among Carlisle venues that show football (with Sky Sports/TNT Sports) and its own listing flags Football/TV, so you can catch the early or late kick-off. It serves a full food menu with set kitchen hours (including Sunday roasts), useful for pre- or post-match fuel. It’s just off the A7 near M6 J44 with a rear car park—handy for fans driving to Carlisle—and the interior is decorated with football scarves, adding to the matchday feel. Carlisle United’s official guidance also notes that, aside from a couple of home-only pubs, travelling supporters can generally use pubs around the city, so this is a neutral spot for both sets of fans.
The food was amazing! The Korean crispy pork belly bites were phenomenal, especially with the aioli sauce. Both the beef burger and the chicken burger were generously portioned and came with lovely coleslaw, salad, and chips. It’s a cosy, homey place with a great selection of beers too. The lady who served us was absolutely lovely, patient with our allergen requirements and consistently friendly throughout our visit.
Everything you could need, brilliant service, hearty and flavoursome food, and damn good portion sizes! Such a homely vibe, and I cannot say this enough. The food is absolutely delicious! I came as part of a large group and even then, each dish came out looking sensational! Come in on your own or as part of a large party and they can certainly accommodate. Thank you so much for the grub!
Great food as all other reviews suggest! Very tasty and well done! Deep rich flavours, for the price asked. Average £16-20pp for a main. Atmosphere for us was lacking, felt like a bit of a run down pub inside and was very local football vibes which isn’t our scene and don’t feel it matched the food however, having said that would return for the food as it was very good! Dog friendly and bar staff were nice!
Just had a fantastic Sunday Lunch at the Coach and Horses. Good helpings with a verity of different vegetables including red cabbage and parsnips. We found the staff friendly and welcoming with excellent service. Highly recommended.
Came here yesterday for Sunday Roast. I’m not really one to complain or leave a bad review but I couldn’t not. Arrived and ordered our drinks and food. Our food arrived before our drinks I had to go back to the bar to ask where the water and one pint was. The Sunday roast was the saltiest meal I have ever had. The roast potatoes were so hard I struggled to get my knife through them. The Yorkshire puddings were so hard they snapped rather than cut. Lumpy mash & lumpy gravy. Undercooked green beans and strange lumps in the cauliflower cheese. The gammon was fatty on one side and burnt on the other. Absolute disappointment to charge £17 per roast for such poor quality is not right. Wouldn’t return here.
