The Puckersley Inn is a welcoming JW Lees pub located on the outskirts of Royton, offering panoramic views over Royton, Shaw, and Oldham. It serves a range of award-winning cask ales, including JW Lees Bitter, Dark, and Manchester Pale Ale. The pub provides an excellent range of meals served at lunchtime and evenings in the dining extension, where children are welcome. A garden area is available for warmer weather, and there is a car park across the road from the pub. The 402 bus stops outside, making it easily accessible for visitors. The pub also hosts live music some weekends, adding to its vibrant atmosphere.
For a quick Lunch the food is quite good I was surprised at the quality of flavour, but the service was rather poor and they seemed uninterested and the atmosphere was what you’d expect from a small pub on a Monday lunch time yelling kids and loudly spoken elderly people probably won’t go back but would say worth a visit
Called in for an impromptu meal. Restaurant was fully booked, which tells you something but was offered a table in the snug so all’s good. Ordered Calamari, Salt & Pepper Hoisin Tempura Prawns off the specials for starters. Mains were Sirloin Steak with Peppercorn Sauce and a Rib-eye Steak. After a small mix up between two prawn starters which was rectified with no fuss (great customer service), all served promptly, hot and the steaks were just as requested (one medium and one medium rare). Steaks served with chunky chips which were fantastic in their own right. All washed down with Pinot Grigio and Lees MPA. 10/10 for food and service. Won’t hesitate to visit again but will probably book in future to secure a table. Thanks to the staff and massive THANKS to the unseen heroes in the kitchen.
Decided to go there on a whim with my kids and had a really nice time. The atmosphere was brilliant, completely relaxed and the staff were brilliant, had a laugh with our servers and wasn't pressured to be on our way even though they were busy. The food was amazing, a little bit disappointed the rag pudding was sold out but the gammon made up for it. Overall we had a really nice experience
Absolutely lovely meals my hubby had the rag pudding amazing and the sea bass fish starter with caviar was beautiful, she also had sword fish with artichokes and veg, homemade cheese onion pie was delicious. Not expensive the fish course is more money but its defo worth it.
The last meal I had here about 1 month ago was phenomenal- 1000/10 I’d have given it. However, my experience this previous time was absolutely shambolic. We sat there for 20 mins before I had to prompt a waitress to kindly take our orders. Then it took 70 mins for the food to finally come out. And all 4 meals came out at different times. The first meal recipient had nearly finished theirs when the last meal came out. Then there was a farcical issue with a promotion. Suffice it to say they didn’t honour it and we paid in full. The whole experience was way below par. But then again if I go again it might be phenomenal again. I’m just a humble person expressing an opinion, as of course I don’t know the pressures associated with running a busy kitchen. Normally amazing but this time maybe just had an off-day - which we’re all entitled to
