I started staying at this hostelry on a regular basis in April 2026 through to the summer months. What an excellent place it is. Good value, clean, comfortable and with a few extra touches around which make it feel like a superior Premier Inn. ||And in particular, a big shout for Danielle, whom I first met at reception, then thereafter everywhere else in the hotel. She made me incredibly welcome, went to detailed trouble to set up my ongoing arrangements, and to organise me early breakfasts, as I need to get away for work commitments too late for normal restaurant times. She could not be more helpful! ||Great place to stay!
Brilliant stay at the Boat and Horses !! Extremely clean room , a huge cosy bed , tea , coffee , biscuits and even hot chocolate supplied each day and such lovely welcoming staff - especially Dale on reception ! Canal view family room was excellent- very roomy and no noise at all ! Restaurant attached to the hotel for a great hearty breakfast that was included in price and lunch and dinner if needed with a great selection of food !! Would I stay again - absolutely!! 10/10
The service from the front of house lady in black with glasses and bartender fella with the man bun was perfect, however myself and my partner ordered starters to test the water. Pork bites, garlic chiabatta and cheese, halloumi fries. Pork bites- completely inedible. Tough and chewy. Garlic chiabatta with cheese - flooded with butter and no taste of garlic. Also inedible. Halloumi bites-not bad but under cooked. The batter was soft. Sorry to describe you this way, but the Viking looking fella notices the issue with the pork belly and instantly offer a refund. No refund for the cheesy garlic bread as I it was almost embarrassing that I had to raise further issues with the food. For the prices simple starters like this should fly out of the kitchen with no negative feedback. A change in the kitchen is definitely required. I can’t fault the service as the staff members that i dealt with. They were completely professional and polite . I would return for a drink but never to eat.
We didn't stay but popped into the pub for a carvery and it was faultless... Service was spot on. Meats to the veg to the huge Yorkshire puddings were to die for!!! Outside is lovely and is the place when its in the sunshine. Inside is decorated really nice and the staff were all lovely!!!!
Stayed over the weekend, first time visiter to the the area an hotel. The room was well sized, beautiful and spotless, bed was good size an very comfy. Bathroom was spacious also very clean. The staff were fantastic, very welcoming, pleasant and helped with directional advice when inquired. Didn't get to eat unfortunately but wish we had, as the carvery looked an smelled AMAZING! All in all i would say 100% will be returning, if only for the day to have a meal. 5/5
