The meat was cooked perfectly, and the Yorkshire puddings were simply huge and airy. In 2026, it is difficult to find a place where the quality of food remains consistently high, but The Cross Keys succeeds. The menu is thought out to the smallest detail, there are excellent options for vegetarians. Be sure to try their homemade desserts β€” the lemon pie was divine!

Myself and my partner were over from dublin the last 2 days visiting friends who live in Newport. They took us to this pub with a few other friends of theirs. My partner was wearing black chino bottoms which straight away the ginger bearded bouncer dismissed him in a horrible manner telling him they were tracksuit bottoms. If hes bothered to look at them properly hed have quite clearly seen they were trouser material but he stood eating his food and smirking telling us to move away. Never have we been treated in such a derogatory way and I would never in a million years step foot near this establishment again. These type of power buzz people shouldn't have no people skills and should not have be working with the public. Every other pub around the staff were amazing but this one person left a bad taste in our mouth and I most definitely would bit be recommending it to anyone I know thats fortunate to visit such a beautiful city

Great old style Pub with a great atmosphere, just what Newport needs. Great Banter and spacious - reasonable priced drinks and wide range of selection on offer + snacks also on offer - juke box available and only issue for me was people smoking in the doorway when there is ample room outside various TV's offering access to various sporting events

Very unfriendly pub. Definitely don't go for a game of pool on a wednesday as visitors are not allowed to use either of the 2 tables.
