I wouldn’t normally leave a review, however as a manager within the hospitality industry myself, I feel this pub genuinely needs some constructive feedback to help it improve. Unfortunately, the food fell well below an acceptable standard. The gravy was extremely watery and overly salty. The cauliflower cheese wasn’t cheesy at all and appeared undercooked – the cauliflower was rock hard, sitting in watery milk with paprika sprinkled on top rather than a proper cheese sauce. The stuffing was overcooked on the top yet underdone underneath. When I approached the carvery deck, there was only a very small amount of each meat remaining. I politely asked if fresh meat could be provided, however this was declined. What was left was crumbled, extremely dry, chewy, and stone cold. This was by far the most disappointing part of the meal. This is a real shame, as there is clearly potential here. The staffing situation does seem to have improved compared to previous visits, however the overall atmosphere felt quite flat. Most staff appeared visibly unhappy. One individual with pink hair behind the bar was particularly loud when taking orders, speaking very loudly to customers. This isn’t something you want to hear while trying to enjoy food or drinks. On a positive note, the venue itself is very clean, with great décor and design. There’s also an excellent selection of beers, lagers, and soft drinks, which is a real highlight. I genuinely don’t enjoy leaving reviews like this, but this pub would greatly benefit from stable management and improved kitchen training. With the right leadership and focus on food standards, this could be a much better experience.
Absolultely awful in there today. No fresh carvery veg. The rest looked like it had been there for hours and was all dried out and shrivled up and black around the edges. When asked if they would be doing fresh told no, and whats there was edible. Yokshires were burnt and rock hard, meat was dried out where it had been sat under the heat lamps for so long. Swapped my order from a carvery to a burger as the carvery was less than substandard. 25 mins later no sign of it, told would be a few more minutes. So i cancled my order, everyone else had had theirs and eaten it. 3 people ordered steak medium well, came out exrtreamly well done, dry and chewy, asked to replace the steaks (same time as i swaped my carvery to a burger), 25 mins later 2 full meals came out when only the steak needed replacing and the 3rd steak nowhere to be seen. Order extra chips, never arrived. The stand in manager couldnt do enough for us. Was told the normal manager and the chef that had been there a while had both quit at the same time at the begining of the month and the new chef has no clue. (And by the food that came out, clearly shouldnt be in a kitchen).
The staff are very nice. We ordered the scampi, gammon, fish & chips, carvery and cowboy burger. Everything was served hot and timely. The scampi reminded me of tater tots, they are small popcorn size shrimp in a puff of batter. The fish was flavorful but very thin. The burger came with two patties and tasted very good. The gammon was good. The carvery is okay, you can all you want vegetables but not the meat. I found the meat was cut wafer thin and would have preferred a thicker cut. The gravy was thin and the Yorkshire pudding was a little tough. Everyone enjoyed their meal and it’s a very nice atmosphere. You can sit inside or out.
Lovely friendly staff and very good food. Jaz and Matt W were extremely chatty and friendly and a pleasure to deal with. We had a small issue with one of the meals we ordered but it was quickly and easily resolved by Matt W. Jaz went through some meals on the menu and gave me some information. Very satisfied with my visit. I do think the prices are very expensive but they offer 30% off quite often so it helps. Will definitely be back!
Went today the food was absolutely! Vile fish cold very chewy had 6 chips and not cheap as well. Service was really bad only one person on the bar. Then we wanted dessert and they didn't have 4 desserts and they had no coffee as well. You put a sign up, don't you and say look I'm sorry we're out of these desserts. I queued for like 15 to 20 minutes and then they said we haven't got any won't be going again needs new management. Waited about 40 minutes for our food it came at all different times
