📍 2.3 miles from JobServe Community Stadium
City-centre spot by Colchester Castle (CO1 1TH) that works well as a matchday rendezvous: it’s close to Colchester Town rail station (~500m) and bus routes, making it easy to gather before heading to the JobServe Community Stadium. The pub serves food daily (Mon–Sat 09:00–21:00; Sun 09:00–18:00), so you can get a pre- or post-match meal. It’s also listed among Colchester pubs with Sky Sports, meaning you can catch early kick-offs or other televised games around your fixture. Regular real-ale choices and mainstream lagers are documented, giving groups a broad drinks range for meet-ups.
Delicious food with a great choice, and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I’ve ever had (only sad it was a daily special and not permanently on the menu). The young lads at the bar were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend for a Sunday lunch with family or even a casual date night.
I had the beef Sunday roast and it was absolutely banging. I’ve been coming here every so often and I really love this place. It’s dog-friendly, which is a big plus for me — I always bring my best pal along and he gets his usual chicken from the dog menu 😂 He literally remembers the way and pulls on the lead to go in. The place is always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Such great service. Absolutely focused on giving clients a great experience. Can’t thank Alex enough for friendly chat and making us feel so welcome. Food was the best we have eaten from pub fayre anywhere. Menu seems nothing fancy, but it’s all just done very very well. Pork belly was absolute perfection and fish and chips was better than most dedicated chip shops. I’ve been there for breakfast time before and had the best bacon sandwich too. All proper produce, done to perfection. Give your chef and serving staff the best Christmas party ever, they all deserve it. 👌🏻 Dog friendly too!!!! 🫶🏻
Management are absolutely fantastic , makes you feel welcome and recommended a new lager for me to try with a sample, the area outside is excellent and well maintained to a high standard. The actual bar area is beautifully finished with a modern / rustic charm. Brilliant selection of beers and spirits including Japanese whiskies.
The Castle Inn is a large impressive pub with a contemporary feel. There is a wide selection of draft drinks, including four hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales from Timothy Taylors brewery. The ones we tried were in excellent condition. I haven't tried the food, so i can't comment, but the menu looked very tempting. There is a nice large outside seating area. The staff are very welcoming and the pub is dog friendly.
