π 2.3 miles from JobServe Community Stadium
City-centre location (7 Queen Street, CO1 2PG) just 450m from Colchester Town station and close to town-centre bus routes makes it a convenient pre-match stop. CAMRA/WhatPub describe a wide range of draught (mostly Belgian) plus bottled and canned beers, and the local tourism site highlights it as a notable craft-beer bar in the city centre. Away-day guidance also notes that many supporters use pubs in Colchester town centre before heading to the JobServe Community Stadium, so this spot can work as a quality pre-game option with easy onward transport.
Nice old pub with excellent and unusual selection of beer, a lot of Belgian, reasonable prices, good friendly service.
Went in for a look after hearing this was a little hidden gem .across the road from the museum you can easily walk past it but up the 2 steps and inside dark walls little nooks to sit and chat .Great barman gives good samples of a huge range of beers from across Europe. Snax and comfortable seats. They have music on several occasions. Out this on your list of good venues and places to drink that won't be full of children or loud chatting .definitely be back to sample more
Nice little place if you fancy a German or Belgian beer! Also have a few other drinks including some more unusual ciders. I had a cherry beer that was really quite good... It's a small place, and it's definitly a bit different to other places you can go drinking in Colchester... if you like a 'trim and proper' type of bar then perhaps not for you as it does feel a bit all over the place in terms of decor!
If you enjoy Belgian-style beers then this is the place for you. An unrivalled bottle range plus some specials on draught, alongside some local beers and real ciders. Itβs on the small side so can get busy but the staff are happy to chat and help you with your beer choices. I believe there is live music some nights also. Well worth a visit if you are in town.
Plenty of choice of alcohol in a beautiful tudor building. Gd atmosphere.
