In Chesterfield town centre at 7 Beetwell St, the pub is practical for matchdays thanks to transport links—WhatPub lists it as close to bus routes and around 600m from Chesterfield railway station. That makes it an easy meet-up before or after the game. The in-house Alley restaurant runs an all-day menu, so you can get a pre-match meal, and there’s a Just Eat listing if you need food on the move. CAMRA/WhatPub note rotating cask choices that typically include Jaipur, Landlord, Ashover Citra and Peak Ales Best—solid pints for a post-match debrief.
We were very excited about the tapas menu 5 tapas for £28. The food was good think they could do with some vegtable options . Very nicely set out clean and welcoming pub. Not quite pub atmosphere but a great place to grab something to eat. Must mention there fab selection of red wines. We try both the Rioja ,a 10 out of 10 from me. They have a desert tapas menu too which look great but we were already full. Lovely option if you want to eat drink and chat easy to hear each other no big crowds . A great ootion for dinner or lunch.
We made in impromptu visit on a Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and chose three tapas dishes with a portion of chunky chips. The service was timely and friendly and the tapas dishes were cooked excellently. The maple halloumi in particular was delicious and my wife commented that it was the best halloumi she had tasted. Really well presented inside, the pub doesn’t draw you in quite as much from the outside, but don’t be deterred, give it a try. We will be back soon
A lovely warm inviting little place, great atmosphere friendly sociable staff. Reasonably priced and the food is delightful. I will definitely be going again and would recommend to my friends and family. Had a superb evening.
Stayed here for 1 night and and had a great experience from check in right up to breakfast being served the following morning. I arrived oo early for check in but like most realistic people/places they let me leave my suitcase in my room that was being prepared at the time which made things so much easier as i was at a wedding reception that afternoon and would've had to return half way through just to check in and drop my case off after collecting it from my car. The room itself was pleasant enough, clean, modern and quiet enough for me. Breakfast was from a choice of menus and the chef was so accommodating because a lot of the items i didn't fancy,i got the impression nothing was an issue just order what you like. Freshly made with hot/cold choices avaliable and very tasty all round. Overall my experience at The Spread Eagle was more than expected and have saved the venue for future overnights in Chesterfield. Thanks
Decided to pop in and try several dishes from the Tapas menu. They were all well done and tasty and would definitely have them again. Staff and service were great too. There was also a lovely outdoor area to the back. Worth a visit
