π 1.2 miles from SMH Group Stadium
Town-centre pub a short walk from Chesterfield station and bus routes, handy for away supporters arriving by rail. Itβs about a 25-minute (c.1.3-mile) walk to the SMH Group Stadium, so it works well as a pre-match meet and a post-match pint. The pub is known for rotating cask ales from local breweries (e.g., Brampton, Dancing Duck, Pheasantry), giving fans plenty of choice on matchdays. Away-fan guides note that Yeovil (and other) supporters have used it over the years, indicating a neutral, welcoming atmosphere for both sets of fans. Being right by the Crooked Spire in the heart of town also makes it easy to combine with other nearby venues or grab transport to the ground.
Went in here after a Comedy gig nearby. Was pleasantly surprised to hear some great sounding Metal music from outside and turns out they had a live band on which were great. Atmosphere was really good and friendly in there, decent beer lineup and their Cask beer tasted really fresh and well kept. I was driving and was only having a couple half pints but accidentally dropped my drink and spilt it everywhere feeling awful about it... Spoke to bar staff and asked for some blue roll and apologised, never did they make me feel bad about it or looked annoyed. They told me not to bother after I cleaned abit up and even offered me a replacement beer without me asking. Despite refusing as it was my fault, they insisted which I thought was really great service. If I'm ever back down I'm Chesterfield, I'll definitely be down here again. Staff really seemed to enjoy working here and had alot of banter and fun with each other behind the bar it seemed too.
Wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, definitely good food, tasty pies, burgers and fish finger sarnies. Clean and tidy tables, pleasant and efficient service. Plus a lot less π wasps indoors. We had a very enjoyable lunch.
Lovely pub in the centre of town next to the Crooked Spire. Holds regular music events and beer festivals. Really enjoyed popping in and trying the different types of very well kept real ales. Overall great place and wonderful staff and now one of my favourite pubs to drop in when in Chesterfield.
Warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff were great, the beer went down a treat. We had an enjoyable evening. I'll definitely go back and try some different beers.
Wandered in here while waiting for a bus. I wasn't sure it was open at first as it was quite gloomy inside however the friendly and cheerful landlord (I think) reassured me it was and beckoned me inside. The apparent "gloominess" was in fact part of the Halloween decorations. Had a pleasant pint of Neck Oil and sat down to enjoy the ambiance and a refreshing classic rock oriented playlist. There's not many pubs you walk in and can hear The Scorpions etc. playing. Would have happily stayed longer had I not had a bus to catch but I'll definitely pop in next time.
