📍 1.2 miles from SMH Group Stadium
It’s a town-centre pub opposite the Crooked Spire and just south of Chesterfield station, making it a convenient meet-up for rail-travelling supporters. It’s listed in an away-fans guide, and CAMRA/WhatPub note it’s close to the railway station and bus routes. The pub typically offers multiple cask ales from respected local breweries and serves food daily until 8pm, so you can get a proper pint and a hot pre-match meal before heading to the SMH Group Stadium.
We had a really enjoyable visit to the Pig and Pump in Chesterfield. We reserved a table in advance and were greeted warmly on arrival, with everything set up and ready for us, which instantly made us feel welcome and relaxed. The food was very nice — clearly well prepared, full of flavour and nicely presented. It felt like real care had gone into the dishes rather than something rushed or generic. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, making it a great place to sit back and enjoy the afternoon. What really stood out was the service. The staff genuinely looked after us from start to finish, checking in at just the right times and making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling intrusive. Their friendliness and attentiveness really added to the overall experience. In my opinion, booking a table is recommended as it can get quite busy during peak periods. A great spot for a meal in Chesterfield, and somewhere we’d happily return to and recommend to others.
Had a meal here last week and it was lovely. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, the service was quick and the food tasted so good and really good prices too. The chips are amazing and the live music made it all the more better! My friend had her wedding reception upstairs here last year and that was also really good, quick service and lovely food. Refreshing change to alot of other places. Will return. Thank you !
Great food, fantastic service from really nice staff and a good selection of beers
Such a gem of a pub! Great food and selection of beer. It was very busy every night we walked past it. We went on a Sunday for some dinner, they serve food until 7pm on Sundays and we got there just before and still were served. We had really good fish and chips (massive portion) and some bangers and mash which was 10/10. Great interior too, and lovely for a dinner with friends and family as they have lots of big tables.
We chose The Pig & Pump as a colleague recommended the burger platter (£22 for two burgers , fries, onion rings and homemade slaw ). Thank you to Our host Kelly who made us very welcome , bought water for my dog, and treats @baxter_spanner ( Dog friendly inside and outside which is always a +plus ). We sat outside as the weather was conducive to, and the location was not too bad for traffic noise . There is a great selection of real ales ,craft beers and lagers . Food was freshly made , served hot, and delicious, worth the money paid ( excellent value for money ). Overall , great service , and atmosphere- will return to sample the summer menu ( released on June 21st 2024 ).
