We had a very disappointing experience. We booked through the website but never received a confirmation, so we went in person to see if we could still get a table. We were told to sit anywhere without a reservation, even though we arrived at 14:30 and there were several tables reserved for much later (around 7 pm) that could have been offered to us. Instead, we were placed at a high table, which was far from ideal—especially as we were with children. The service was extremely slow. After waiting 45 minutes with no food, I had to remind staff, asking at least for the kids’ meals. A couple of minutes later, the starters finally arrived—but they came out together with the kids’ starters, and everything was cold and hard. Our main courses didn’t arrive until about an hour later, and unfortunately, they were also cold. To make matters worse, the portion sizes were very small. Overall, it felt like a complete waste of time and money. The place seems more focused on regulars and drinks rather than providing a decent dining experience. I would not recommend it—definitely not worth your money.
I’ve been coming to Duck in the Pond for years and I am always SUPER impressed with the amazing level of service procured by the team at the Duck. Whenever I come in after work, I am always welcomed by a huge smile from Katja or Madeline and I’m sorted out with my drink of choice poured to perfection! Neo, Tyrell and Nikki always make my experience feel homely with their quick wit and welcoming aura so I feel like i have a home here. Big shout-out to the Jonathan and B in the kitchen who always make the best food I’ve ever eaten at such reasonable prices!! But by far the best part of my Duck In the Pond experience has to be the customer service from Lewis and Max, I met them for the first time coming into the Duck when they first started and I think they’re friends from school and you can just tell by the way they radiate and bounce of each other! I can’t count the amount of times I’ve died of laughter chatting away with them way past my bed time!! Duck in the Pond is such a special place and I’m proud to call it my local pub and wouldn’t choose anywhere else to get my grub and drinks!
We had a birthday celebration for a friend yesterday and booked a table for seven At lunchtime It was an excellent experience. It was so reasonably priced, Excellent value. and we all enjoyed our food. The staff were extremely accommodating, especially Nicole I think her name was. Her name began with an N! she sorted us out she bought a cake out that we had provided and had the candles lit and brought it to the table where we sang happy birthday. She also took photographs for us of our group. She went over and above and we all had a great time. Thank you to all those staff at the duck in the pond.
I’ve enjoyed food and atmosphere here before but this visit was next level. The newish menu was fantastic. Salad was large, fresh and great ingredients. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and warm welcoming lit fireplaces are a huge bonus. The service was kind and professional. Tyrell did a great job taking our order. Wonderful visit and will be back and highly recommend!
Busy pub with limited parking space. Choice of food which is reasonable & one has got to be careful of not being overcharged for any drinks. 21.3.22 Management has changed & who need to become familiar with any offers being promoted on behalf of the pub! Friendly staff. 23.3.22 Apparently no staff to cook food & customers are kept waiting with dirty tables & bar! Unacceptable. No point in providing meal vouchers if they can't be used! Ridiculous. 17.7.22 Tasty duo roast lunch served on Sunday by friendly staff. Toilets 🚻 need to be kept clean & smelling fresh. 22.11.22 & 28.2.23 Tasty food served by friendly staff in ambient surroundings. Some items on the menu were not available! 29.4.33 The tables need cleaning & clearing up, as do the toilets! Bright & lively atmosphere. 22.11.23 Tasty food served by friendly staff in a clean environment, however, the stinking toilets 🚻 & corridors need cleaning & freshening up! 6.3.24 Tasty food served by friendly staff in a cosy atmosphere. However , the toilets & corridor are overcome by the overpowering stench of urine! 3.12.24 Tasty Burger & chips served by friendly staff in a clean & warm environment. 3.3.25 Tasty Ultimate Burger & Chips served by friendly staff in a clean & cosy environment. 13.3.25 Tasty soup, fish & chips 🍟 with bread & butter 🧈 served in a clean & warm musical environment by friendly staff. 16.4.25 Tasty tomato soup 🍲 & maple 🍁 stack burger & chips with gravy served by friendly staff in a clean environment. 20.6.25 Enjoying a late hour vodka & orange cocktail 🍸 & Peroni served by friendly staff. A Mojito was not available! However , the toilets 🚻 with broken soap 🧼 dispensers with no soap at all , needs to be kept clean! 13.1.26 Tasty Burger - stack & chips served by friendly staff in a clean & warm environment. However, the WiFi is very poor! 23.1.26 Leek 🫛 soup , Tasty Fisherman's Catch with chips 🍟 & peas served by friendly staff like Nicci in a clean & ambient environment.
