Fantastic Works Christmas meal we all enjoyed plenty of choice on Christmas menu fantastic service. Table well presented. Can not fault it in any way everyone thoroughly enjoyed the night.
It certainly lives up to it's current name flea pit absolutely filthy toilets bar staff more interested in their phones Jackie who had it before was lovely and ran it like a ship more disgusting is sending bar staff to a pub close by and asking opinions which we gave I certainly wouldn't recommend it now give it a miss
Ordered lunch special of jacket, for a large drink, then went on for dessert. Food is lovely, was quick, well prepared and tasty Dessert was absolutely delicious. Honeycomb cheesecake. And a cuppa tea All for under £13. Staff were lovely, helpful, chatty and overall a lovely experience
Received a jacket potato with a table spoon of filling. There was no bacon bits, we could hardly find the cheese, no butter. I asked where the filling was to be told that was the portion size. I asked for a refund, but they clearly ignored me or had selective hearing, and the chap just wandered off to serve other people and I was just stood there wondering what was going on. Wouldn't you ask the customer if there was anything else if they were still stood there, if nothing else to clarify things. He was a miserable chap, and I was polite, saying it's not their fault, I knew I'd get a better meal elsewhere. I then went to weatherspoons and got a jacket potato from there. The price was also cheaper than the William Foster, it came with a side salad and dressing, and plenty of cheese you could see and a pat of butter. I've added both pictures for comparison... Very disappointed. By the way, I'd only touched the jacket to open it open thinking there was filling inside... Boy was I surprised.
We decided since William Foster was in a side road off the High St, that it'd make a good place to stop for lunch whilst on a Christmas shopping trip in Lincoln. It's a large pub split into 2 main areas, with a really good choice of beers & meals, and plenty of space between tables. The staff were pleasant & helpful, just as well, as unfortunately we were informed that the hand battered cod & chips we ordered had run out, so had to sort out changing the order. In the end we ordered: Double BBQ Chicken topped with Bacon & Cheese (Hunter's Chicken), Double Burger the 'Bacon Classic', and I had the Mixed Grill. We all had drinks, and the bill came to just under £33, which considering what a less enjoyable meal in McD's or BK would cost, is great value. Food arrived within about 10-15 minutes, and was not only nicely presented (see my pictures), but well cooked too, especially my medium rare steak, perfect! The only real disappointment was the grilled tomato, seared, but not cooked. I wasn't expecting a £9.99 Mixed Grill to be as good as this, but a good selection, decent quality and very tasty. The other 2 meals got a big thumbs up too, so all good, and left us ready to hit the shops again. As for the pub, I'd imagine it does get very busy judging by how many TV's were around for the sports, and the pool tables, but a pleasant, not rowdy pub experience.
