📍 0.9 miles from LNER Stadium
The Strait and Narrow is a popular spot among football fans, including those attending Lincoln City matches. Its proximity to Sincil Bank Stadium makes it a convenient choice for pre- and post-match gatherings. The pub offers a vibrant atmosphere with a diverse drink selection, including over 130 bottled beers and a variety of draught options. While it doesn't explicitly advertise live football screenings, its central location and appeal to sports enthusiasts suggest it could be a suitable venue for fans looking to enjoy a drink before or after the game.
Tucked right at the bottom of Lincoln’s legendary Steep Hill like a reward for surviving the climb, the Strait and Narrow is the kind of pub that instantly makes you think, “Yes… this is my sort of chaos.” It’s a popular little bar with a proper cozy, atmospheric vibe, the kind of place where the lighting is low, the decor is cool, and you immediately feel like you’re in a film scene. The cocktail menu deserves its own round of applause – styled like Grand Theft Auto artwork, which already has you feeling like you’re about to pull off a heist… on your own dignity. The range of cocktails and shots is massive, but the real star is the legendary “Infinity Shot,” boldly advertised as being made from every drop of alcohol that has ever existed. The instructions are simple: snap your fingers, down the shot, and congratulations – you’ve just deleted half your weekend. It could taste amazing. It could taste… “interesting.” Either way, you’re doing it, because that advert is pure peer pressure in graphic design form. Each table has an old-school telephone on the wall connected to the “Strait Exchange,” presumably for ordering drinks. I did, however, witness some very confident (and very drunk) lads attempting to call ladies on another table, despite there being no numbers on the phones. Optimism is a beautiful thing. The decor is fantastic, warm, quirky, and full of character. Sadly, the aforementioned lads got a bit too loud and rowdy and were given a firm warning by the doorman, which was our cue to make a tactical retreat before the evening turned into a reality TV episode. All in all, it’s stylish, fun, slightly unhinged in the best way, and absolutely one of my top ten pubs. Great drinks, great atmosphere, great stories… and possibly the most dangerous shot in Lincoln.
The Straight & Narrow in Lincoln is a fantastic spot with a great variety of drinks, all of excellent quality. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations, which really adds to the experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends.
Great music. The cocktails and service was the best on my trip to Lincoln. So good, I went again the night after. Price of the drinks was very good too! Also for a bit of fun, there are telephones dotted around the venue which you can call and talk to random people!
Security are diabolical, shame because without them the atmosphere would be great. It’s not the first time we’ve been warned about the aggressive and intimidating security here as it’s become quite an issue, especially the bald tattooed bouncer who runs the place like the army. We will no longer be coming back because it’s gotten so bad that you feel uncomfortable going in for a drink and get interrogated when standing outside.
Our final destination for Jo’s Birthday Adventure. Our bartender was Daisy who greeted us on arrival & answered all our Gluten related questions. This bar has an unrivalled selection of the best beers & spirits of anywhere in Lincoln. Jo had Cactus Cat Gluten Free beer. I had Kwak, a strong Belgian beer. Both were amazing. Before we left, our daughter (who lives abroad) contacted the bar via Facebook &, after describing us to Daisy (thanks Allix 🤣) requested a special cocktail for Jo. Daisy created a delicious drink called ‘I vaguely remember 1997’ for Jo & a Coney’s 1856 Old Fashioned for me. Brilliant service from a friendly & skilled team. The perfect way to round off our day!
