The Nosey Parker – where peace and quiet come to die, but the pints are cold and the plates are sizzling! Walk in on a Friday around 5pm and you’ll be greeted by a glorious chorus of hi-vis heroes celebrating the end of another graft-filled week. Paint-splattered, plaster-dusted, and pint-ready, it’s like a builders’ convention sponsored by Carling. The noise level? Let’s just say if you’re not wearing ear defenders, you’ll soon wish you were. Between the laughter, banter, and kids running riot while the fire door’s wedged open for the smokers’ revolving door routine, you’ll get a lovely indoor breeze that’s roughly the temperature of the Arctic Circle. But credit where it’s due — the staff are absolute gems: friendly, polite, and quick on the draw with food and drinks. The menu’s a solid one too, giving Spoons a proper run for their money with weekday offers and sizzling plates that look and smell incredible (I didn’t order steak, but after seeing and smelling it, I wish I had). Separate dining area for those seeking *some* sanctuary, big TVs blasting TNT Sports, BT and sky with a projector for the big matches — it’s the perfect working-class watering hole. Ideal for an after-work pint, provided you bring your sense of humour... and maybe a pair of earplugs. Given a 4 only because we called in for a few pints and didn't try the food, but the smell of the food has me wishing I had. Will be returning. Also dog friendly, can even give your dog a sirloin steak for £3.50, separate dog menu.
Southern fried chicken burger. Dry. Wafer thin, salty. Inedible. Quality of the ingredients has definitely diminished. Staff are nice, but food is poor.
Had a lovely meal here. Service was good, though the day we went their card machine wasn't working! However, we still managed to pay by ordering & paying online!
We was passing and popped in for dinner. Didn't realise it was quiz night apparently so was quite busy. Advised to go round and see if there was seating in the bar area around the back bit which there was a good few tables. Also was told if there is cuterly on the table it will moved soon. It was moved and table cleaned literally in a few minutes. Food come quite quickly, maybe 30/40 mins wait, good considering it was a busy evening. Had x2 gammon dishes, the one on a deal, which I think is a good price, for what you get. Kids all had steak each. All was cooked fine & food was tasty. Meat, chips etc cooked well, apart from few of the peas, maybe overcooked? As some were dry & like shrivelled up. Waitress who brought food over, short dark hair, was nice & friendly.
We come here very often and never come away thinking anything but good things. The food is always delicious and priced appropriately. The staff are always welcoming no matter how busy, Carla and Nina are the staff who have stood out to us so far as the most friendly. It can be a little busy at times but that’s expected for a pub so good 😊
