Useful pre- or post-match stop for drivers: CAMRA/WhatPub locates Woodfield Farm next to the Holiday Inn Express on White Rose Way with a shared car park, making parking and access straightforward on matchdays. The venue serves food from breakfast through the evening (opening and serving hours listed by both the official site and CAMRA), so early kick-offs and late finishes are covered. The adjacent Holiday Inn Express is listed as about 1.3 miles (around a 2-minute drive) from Eco-Power Stadium by Expedia, which indicates a short hop between the pub and the ground for those staying nearby or arriving by car. The official site also notes that coaches are accepted, which can help organised groups on matchdays.
We visited Woodfield Farm on a Friday night in late October. The pub has been a regular to us throughout the many years of living in Doncaster and we frequented it a lot in the early 2010s to take part in the weekly pub quiz where you could wheel out a wheelbarrow of prizes if you won! It’s been a long time since those days but the pub still remains a favourite local of ours. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking options and once inside the pub there were plenty of seating options too. Woodfield Farm do great carvery options but on this occasion we opted for choices from the main menu. Ordering at the bar was pretty straight forward and the service was good on this evening. I chose the Farmhouse chip shop supper without peas and a side of onion rings and my husband had the lasagne. Both meals were really nice pub grub and we enjoyed the food a lot. For dessert we tackled a giant chocolate eclair and the clue is in the name as it was huge! The portion sizes here are very good and I’d also say it’s really good value for money. We spent a couple of hours there and within that time there were still plenty of tables available as people came and went. The pub comes across as having a friendly atmosphere and I did enjoy the visit. Woodfield Farm is a great pub with a good variety of menu choices. This won’t be the last visit for us and hope to continue popping in now and again for many more years to come.
Really enjoyed the food. Had a starter of chicken wings, chicken was perfectly tender followed by an American inspired meal which was an enjoyably different pallet. The best part by far was the pudding. I had the millionaire shortbread which was a generous portion and honestly one of the best I have had especially for the price point. It was warm and paired really well with the icecream. I wasn't able to finish it all in one sitting but, it was easy enough to ask for a box to take it home in.
The food was actually decent.... It was just the wait to receive the 2 starters.... 35 minutes.... Then the mains were another 20 after our plates were removed..... Then the waitress apologised for our desserts turning up late so after reading other reviews it is apparently a common issue. The staff were nice however and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Food was good and very well priced too. 3 courses each and a couple of pints of coke and a Guinness totalled £64 pounds for 2 of us. Would have received more points but the wait was just too long. Ian was a wonderful host, friendly and helpful. Most of the staff were excellent. Did have one member who must have been having a bad day since she rolled her eyes when questioned where an item was that we had ordered and then proceeded to to throw the plate with said item across the table. Which I found extremely rude. Please don't let this put you off the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Hopefully just a bad day for that person. Food delicious best roasties around.
We have been supporting a dance competition most of the week and decided to stop for dinner between competition and results. Wherelse could we go but Woodfield Farm. What a great choice it was too. Even though you could see how hot the staff were with the 28° heat, we were greated with smiles and excellent customer service from Ian and Rebbeca. Thanks guys and see you next week for another exceptional carvery. Special nod to James who let me have the end bit.
