Feeling it in the heat? Decided to pop into the Mason’s Arms for a nice cool drink. The beer garden at the back is lovely now shady, quiet oasis to sit and have a chill and chat - amazing!

The Masons Arms, located conveniently next to Doncaster Market, is a welcoming spot that’s perfect for a relaxed meal or drink. The friendly guy at the bar adds to the warm atmosphere, always ready with a smile and happy to chat, which makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. One of the standout dishes here is the crispy salted naked pork. As a Romanian, I can say this is a delicious choice that really hits the spot. It’s perfectly seasoned, with a crunch that’s incredibly satisfying. Pairing it with a cold lager is the way to go—it complements the flavours beautifully and makes for a truly enjoyable experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or just want to unwind with a good drink, The Masons Arms has you covered. The combination of friendly service, tasty food, and a relaxed vibe makes it a great spot to visit whenever you’re in the area. I’ll definitely be stopping by again!

Called in Good Friday later on for a drink. The small bar had 2 tellies on and the music was too loud for a small bar. Nothing cosy anymore? No candles. We went outside to the beer garden and there were 3 lads mixing tunes and a couple of people dancing intermittently, not the usual music for The Masons. So we moved into the Rum Rooms which was freezing as all the doors were open to the beer garden. No cosy atmosphere, no musician singing with a guitar? It was very disappointing. Not sure what has happened to the pub?.

A good traditional pub on the market with Cask Marque. Madge chose an Ilkley Blond. ( not on top form..probably near barrel bottom..always a curse of real ale) Lovely interior. Front bar busy with England v Columbia ladies QF ( England just won). Back room showing boring boring Arsenal empty. Nice room..rear beer courtyard...see The Rum Rooms...a West Indian bar...shared space / business. Food menu looks fab-u-lous.

A spontaneous Sunday lunch by the fire is a godsend in these cold times, portions were perfect and I can honestly say they make the best gravy I have ever tried. Brilliant selection of beer and a fire! What more could you want.
