The Rummer Tavern

📍 1.3 miles from Cardiff City Stadium

About this Pub

The Rummer Tavern
Right in the city centre opposite Cardiff Castle and about 600m from Cardiff Central station, The Rummer Tavern is an easy pre- and post-match meet for Bluebirds on matchdays. The pub shows live football on Sky Sports (and TNT Sports via its operator network), so you can catch the early kick-off or results before heading to the ground. It’s explicitly promoted as a home-fan spot by local supporters, and serves food with clearly stated kitchen hours—handy for lining up before the walk or bus to the stadium. In short: central location, live TVs for the football, and a home-crowd atmosphere with meals available make it a solid matchday base.

Called into the Rummer Tavern for a light meal and a drink. I had the Cajun chicken dirty fries with a pint of strongbow fruit. Delicious cooked meal to order. Nicely served in a basket and liner. The service was welcoming, The Tavern was well decorated in Cardiff City FC colours. Good selection of meals and draft and bottled drinks. Perfect for meeting with friends, socializing, and predrinks before sporting and events in the heart of the city centre.

The prices are decent the place is ls situated opposite the castle and I'm not being biased in any way but if you guys want food and I mean quality food , very very clean very very much mmy top 1 place to visit in Cardiff . Finally a place that's cheap and serves a cracking pint .never ever will go anywhere else but the tavern . A+

Old fashioned pub with great service. No frills, absolutely what I wanted. Really warm welcome too. These old school boozers are a dying breed – truly a great pub

Nice enough local 'pub' that could do with a little bit of spot & polish as a little bit worn. Has some good pictures on the wall of historic Cardiff to show what it was like before the enormous stadium was built, now 20years ago.
