City-centre Wetherspoon on Westgate Street, about 500m from Cardiff Central station, so it’s easy for match-goers arriving by train. The pub shows TNT Sports on multiple TV screens and has a projector, making it handy for early/late kick-offs around your game. Away-fan reviews on Football Ground Guide specifically mention heading to the Gatekeeper pre-match and finding it very busy with a good atmosphere, underlining its use as a neutral city-centre meeting spot on game days. Being a large, multi-level venue with several bars and an all-day food menu also helps groups get served quickly before heading to the stadium or back to the station after the final whistle.

Good food & pints for reasonable prices. Exactly what you’d expect from a Wetherspoons. Only downside was that on the day of the visit (31/Dec) the app was down so all orders had to be done at the bar so it was a bit chaotic for that. It took me 20min to order but then the food was in our table in less than 10min so all in all it was all good.
Typical Wetherspoons pub, very busy with a larger group of young rugby players (six nations was the day before with Wales playing across the road). Food was good and arrived quickly, we ordered on the app. I had a a selection of cask beers, some from their beer festival line up.
Typical with Wetherpoons big that once was theater plenty of room to sit and enjoy a hour or two with cheaper drinks good variety of beers, ales from. Green king and Carlsberg and if feel Hungry there is plenty of food choices from the menu order at bar or on the wetherspoons app easy to find on top of Westgate street near the principality stadium so the Gatekeeper can be very busy on Rugby international and Wales football matches and concert at the principality stadium
First visit here. A large building with many floors. Located near the stadium. We ordered fish chips and peas which arrived reasonably quickly but the chips were luke warm. Waitress did not to do so we suggested just a fresh bowl of chips. These were toasty hot and delicious. Price was good since there was an offer after 2.00pm. Toilets were on the top floor but there is a lift. We would go again.
Very quiet Wetherspoon pub, nice pint of Thunderbird and great value Fish and chips although the curry sauce could be a bit spicier
