📍 2.5 miles from Bramall Lane
The Riverside (383 Walkley Lane, S6 2PB) is flagged by local media as a popular matchday choice for Sheffield Wednesday (“Owls”) supporters, placing it firmly in the home-fan orbit. It also shows live sport with Sky Sports and TNT Sports on site schedules, so you can catch early kick-offs or other fixtures around your game. Practicalities are solid on matchdays too: it’s close to the Hillsborough tram stop (c.150m), making arrivals and departures straightforward. In short, it’s a home-fan leaning pub with multiple TVs and live listings that suits pre- and post-match pints near Hillsborough.
Was in on Boxing Day for the game & then also New Years Eve it’s great to see that the doorstaff are doorstaff now and not drug dealing thugs working with the football group. I feel far safer drinking there now and will be returning! The two tattooed bouncers are super friendly too myself and husband were sat drinking watching them kick out a rowdy rude group at the bar over a bottle of vodka and how they kept there cool is beyond me! Absolute credit to the venue though and happy new year to all the staff
This has to be hands down the worst pub ever they are rude as well as not letting people in with tracksuit bottoms. Ps your not a posh pub also if that’s the case why is their no rule why is it we have to walk up to the door and then get turned away yet all the other pubs we was allowed in personally I’d say stay away and go to any other pub than this one shocking.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE I HAVE WITNESSED HERE!!!! IF YOU ARE A YOUNG WOMAN DO NOT GO HERE!!! MY PARTNER WAS SPIKED WITH POPPERS!! UNBEKNOWN TO HER BY AN OLD MAN! I INFORMED THE BOUNCER ! AND ALL HE HAD TO SAY IS YES I WILL KEEP AN EYE !!! THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ANYONE! I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THE PUB! I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE ! AND I AM READY TO TAKE THIS FURTHER! THIS IS AGAIN DISGUSTING FROM A PUB SO POPULAR !!!!###### BE CAREFUL OUT THERE GIRLS!!!
Held our daughter's 30th here...Matt, Sarah and the team went above and beyond to make the event a memorable one. We chose the pie n peas menu for our guests...a real winner and everyone commented on the quality of the food. Nothing was too much trouble right down to the tiniest detail. I would highly recommend The Riverside if you are planning a 'get together'. Thank you Matt and Sarah.
Staff for the most part are very, very rude (last three times I've been in to give it a chance). I used to co-run the bar before the takeover (yeah, sorry) and it's almost back to when we first took it on... blunt staff with no eye contact, managers refusing service to sober people who were conducting themselves appropriately and with the right attire with no explanation (I know they don't need to legally, but still) - just mustn't have liked the look of them I guess - even though they were happy to entertain groups of fellas who were nice enough but clearly hammered and loud at 2pm and annoying other customers in their personal space. Bar staff floating and not serving, then 'huffing' when asked to pour a pint. Small male manager with glasses not even addressing the customers who were asking questions and answering to staff to convey what is clearly within earshot (I was 2feet away from him). Left due to pure disbelief at its operation as a pub in general. Security guy was lovely though.
