📍 0.4 miles from Portman Road
The Station Hotel is the designated away pub for visitors to Ipswich. It’s directly opposite Ipswich railway station and around a 5–10 minute walk to Portman Road, making it a convenient pre-match meeting point for travelling supporters. Guides note it has a garden and TV screens, so you can catch early kick-offs before heading to the ground. Multiple club and fan guides explicitly direct away fans here, while other nearby pubs tend to be home-fan only on matchdays.
Come down on the coach for the football booked in during in the week by the person who's organised the coach. Only to be told we can't play darts as we might stab someone. They advertise ales and have none to serve. there's no Guinness or even Camden ale. No Jagger's and been treated like we're not wanted would not recommend to anyone avoid at all costs
Visited here for a drink while waiting for a train and the inside bar is a really nice space - nicely decorated with a wide range of reasonably priced drinks. There’s a few tables outside which are good in the sun although the space isn’t much to write home about. The bathrooms are the real disappointment - downstairs and literally falling apart, they really let the rest of the place down. If you’re only wanting a drink though it’s decent enough.
Firstly… I used to like sitting at the bar and engaging in conversation. Recently, the bar stalls have been removed and customers have to find a table and sit, like it’s not a pub. Secondly, they can’t keep their pumps replenished. 80% of their pump supply are out of stock, for a week. The bar staff ‘blame’ football as the reason. No. It’s lack of adjustment to dynamic footflow. Don’t bother going if you want a reliable service and recepion. Not great for customer experience.
Lovely pub across the road from train station. Nice badic menu and food good prices. No wine at all in stock which was odd but bar staff nice although only one
I only went to the hotel as I had missed my train and had an hour to wait for the next one. Straight over the road from the station, really convenient. Staff I meet very friendly, bar well presented and food lovely. I had a drink and loaded chips with sweet n sour chicken n prawn crackers on top. Food was lovely and warm and looked and smelled appetising. Certainly was all of these things. They also do rooms here but I only popped in while waiting on next train.
