Ye Olde White Harte is listed by the Football Ground Guide as a pub option for away supporters in Hull city centre, making it a reliable pre-match base. It sits in the Old Town on Silver Street, close to other pubs and transport links. Match-going fans get proper cask-ale choice: the pub highlights award-winning cask ales, CAMRA lists regular Theakston beers with rotating guests from Kirkstall, Ossett and Titanic, and recent Untappd check-ins confirm those breweries on the bar. When it’s busy on matchdays there’s extra space in the heated courtyard noted by CAMRA. Overall, it’s a historic, central, away-friendly spot with good beer and room to gather before heading to the MKM.
If you can find this pub, which is part of the fun of visiting, it's a wondrous place. The pub is full of history (and most likely a ghost or two not sure we'd stay overnight!) a skull and swords discovered hidden and the plot room where the Civil War was apparently planned. Lots of character. Dating from the early 1500's and a pub from the early 1700's ... older than some well-known countries. A very good welcome and the chap behind the bar was able to offer lots of information. We were invited to look around the upper floors (staircase roped off at the bottom) into a function room (free hire) and other hallways and rooms. There is a small, ill-shaped door on the first floor with a date plaque of 1550. As we stood near, a huge fireplace, (2 sat in leather chairs within the fireplace) it was impossible not to think of and imagine the people that stood where we were, drinking and chatting down through 300+ years. Spooky and inspiring. A great range of beers, (including Old peculiar), wines, and spirits (including a peanut butter whisky!) This is a pub in Hull's Old Town that is very worthwhile a lingering visit and chat with locals who are, it seemed, happy to oblige.
My favourite historic pub is the oldest one in Hull, and it’s full of character and history. The atmosphere is incredible, with dark wooden beams, low ceilings, and fascinating old décor that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. One of the most unusual features is a real human skull on display, which adds to the pub’s mysterious charm. It’s a truly unique place, and I absolutely love spending time there.
Glorious ancient atmospheric pub. Bar staff claim to have seen apparitions. Like the Golden Fleece in York, this houses a human skull. Love the place.
Had a private party up stairs, and they couldn't of been more accommodating. It's a fantastic pub with a large amount of history and we'll worth a visit .
Nostalgic visit. Staff member behind bar was lovely and friendly she was excited about going on holiday. Hidden gem if you don't know about it you could walk past it
