📍 1.7 miles from The MKM Stadium
Football Ground Guide lists The Minerva among pubs for away supporters near the MKM Stadium, making it a dependable pre-match option for visiting fans. CAMRA’s WhatPub notes regular and rotating real ales (e.g., Black Sheep Blonde and Tetley’s, with guests from Abbeydale, Kirkstall and Yorkshire Brewhouse), so there’s strong beer choice on matchdays. The pub’s own site provides a full food menu, useful for a hot meal before or after the game. WhatPub also highlights proximity to bus routes and Hull railway station (about 1km), which is handy for travelling supporters linking up in the city before heading to the ground.
We stumbled on The Minerva whilst looking for fish n chips! Such a lovely old establishment with interesting tables in alcoves/nooks. And the music (80-90s) is pleasant without the loud clamour you will usually find in pubs. We ordered the signature fish n chips, soup of the day, Mediterranean Vegetarian Tomato soup and a cajun chicken salad. The cajun chicken was a tad bit too hard but the rest was ok. The haddock was fried to perfection. The home made chips were delish. If we are ever in Hull again, we will definitely eat the fish n chips again at The Minerva! It faces the Humber.
Popped in here for some decent food and a beer. We were not disappointed. Lots of Hull KR fans in for the world club challenge. So lucky to get a table. If you go at popular times you might think about booking a table. Two burgers (beef and halloumi, pepper and mushroom) with a pint and two halves came to less than £40. It’s years since I ate here, I won’t be waiting years before going back.
We visited for a late lunch, without booking, but there was a table available. My son and I chose the veggie burger meal, which was delicious, with the others going for the fish & chips and jacket potato meals. All portion sizes were decent and there were good menu choices including some tempting specials. Enjoyable visit and convenient for the museum quarter, which we had been to
Had a burger in this really busy and popular pub. The food was great. I made the mistake of eating outside. Spent the whole meal brushing pigeons away. Eat inside, it’s a nice pub anyway so might as well enjoy it.
One of the best pubs in Hull... classic pub setting serving amazing food with excellent selection of beers. Menu is full of choices and specials updated regularly.
