The Greyhound, an unassuming community pub on West Ham Lane in Stratford, heading south towards West Ham is fine. There is only a small selection of keg beers, lagers and cider on offer along with a Blue Roll holder, cleverly disquised as a former real ale pump..non operational in its former life by the looks of it. Lovely people and great service, especially with the rather eclectic wi-fi arrangements. A good beer and a pleasant visit.

🚇 Plaistow 🍺 £5.50 Amstel A Stratford Stalwart. The Greyhound is located at the southern end of Stratford in the Borough of Newham, East London. The nearest Tube is Plaistow, Stratford Tube may be easier for most, due to its good connections to other lines. The original pub on this site was built in 1841. Like much of this area of London, the pub was rebuilt in the 1960’s. This is a good size pub with two separate bars, the Saloon Bar is on the left and the Public Bar on the right. The decor here is simple and functional with some West Ham memorabilia dotted around. The public bar has a pool table and a large screen TV. The Saloon Bar has few TV’s, plenty of seating and a Jukebox. At the core of this pub is a central servery which is allows you to see across between both bars. Just off the Saloon bar is a small beer garden with a covered area. The beer line up is fairly standard mainstream brews that are popular with the locals. I decided on a pint of Amstel, my pint hit the spot, price point was good at under six quid. This is a Wet-Led pub that doesn’t serve food. We arrived around 3.30pm on an overcast Friday afternoon in February. We plotted up in the Saloon bar which was busy with a good mix of local punters. There was a lovely local atmosphere here with the horse racing on in the background. We were served by a friendly member of staff and we were also greeted by the pub’s dog. I was with fellow pub enthusiast and die hard @westham fan @scottyboy who knows this part of the world very well. We had a good look around the pub at the various West Ham flags, signs and photos. I spent most of my teens growing up in a pub that looks just like The Greyhound. Pubs built in the 1960’s may not look like the most inviting places to visit, but what they lack in looks, they definitely make up for in community spirit. We both enjoyed our visit here, this an enjoyable place to have a pint in and well worth a visit. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 23.02.24

Recently I had a very bad experience in this pub. I normally go to this pub every other weekend. I went there today and just wanted to use the washroom and the lady in till didn't allow me to use it. Although I am a customer and she said if I do not buy anything I will not get access to the washroom. Shall I go to this pub for my weekend drink or not. Horrendous attitude from the lady at the till. Think twice before spending the money here.

Wonderful pub with fantastic staff/owners. We were staying at the hotel across the street as we were attending baseball games at the nearby London Stadium, so the Greyhound became our natural watering hole. Being from the Midlands, the owners and staff made us feel very welcome and offered so much assistance as we didn't know the area. The cozy beer garden was a welcomed place to unwind on a warm summer evening with reasonably priced and well kept beer. The atmosphere was incredible and everyone was friendly. It may be a 'locals' pub, but when they treat you like one of thier own, you can't ask for anything more. We all actually wished that we were staying longer. Thank you, all at the Greyhound.
