The Coach & Horses is a longstanding pub in Leyton, serving the local community since 1863. It has recently undergone refurbishment, offering a spacious and welcoming environment for patrons. The pub features multiple screens, both indoors and in the garden, to broadcast a variety of sports, including Premier League, EFL, and European football matches. This makes it a popular spot for fans to gather and enjoy the games together. Additionally, the venue offers a range of local and continental beers, as well as authentic Sri Lankan street food provided by Kamu Ldn, enhancing the matchday experience with quality food and drink options.
Had a lovely afternoon at the coach and horses. Despite being a match day (oops!) the bar emptied quickly and me and my friend had a lovely relaxing few hours catching up. Booking recommended and the food was lovely. We had the chicken 65, lamb kottu, chicken Ceylon and chilli paneer. We had the Ceylon spicy and kottu medium but would have gone spicy for both so just a recommendation if you also like your food on the hotter side but it was lovely. Staff really friendly and attentive. They let us move to a larger table when a friend joined and were really friendly. Will be back to try the deviled chicken and maybe even some pub classics!
This is our local pub for the last 3 years and we enjoy gojng there to watch sports, have a drink , etc. The food started to be a disappointment though, Sunday roast is ok, not bad , the curry we didn’t try recently but the burgers are not really good or properly made. I believe some improvements could be helpful regarding the kitchen, maybe different chefs, refursbishment etc. The chips that come as a side dish are fried in not the best oil, and as a suggestion you could bring the food experience at a higher level, would really benefit the place. I am sure people would enjoy more of a gourmet experience, like a proper burger with the option of sweet potato chips, rosemary chips or something a bit more exquisite. Staff is friendly , we enjoy the vibe of the place but please.. less food options on the menu with more professional chefs, maybe os a good idea.
I don’t go to pubs often for food but this one has certainly changed my mind. Very surprised by the the quality of the food. We had the lamb curry, mix kottu and chicken satay it all was tasty and very homely/authentic tasting. And the next time we went on a Sunday to try the Sunday roast and the lamprias. They were both 10/10. Would recommend if you're looking for authentic food that feels like it’s been prepared perfectly!!!!
Best pub in Leyton by far! Rly cute atmosphere very chill when it’s not a match day and a lush beer garden. Also not a stretch to say the best roast in all of east London, great value and perfectly cooked. Super friendly staff and all!
Went for Sunday lunch, service was average, nothing good, nothing awful (except when my 10 month old knocked my drink over, no one came to help me clean it up…I had to get up to get tissues myself. And no offer to replace it). The food was actually vile. I’m talking Wetherspoons in the 90s…but with london 2026 prices. We all had the roast and honestly soooooo gross. The beef and lamb were grey. The gravy was very strong bistro, veggies overcooked. Just yuck. The dish and chips was also disgusting. Fine for a drink but definitely avoid the kitchen
