City-centre location makes it an easy pre-match stop, with Sunderland rail station and Millfield Metro nearby for matchday travel. Fans report it gets busy before games, and reviews mention it as a good spot for a pre-match pint. For fuelling up, the pub serves food—regular pizza service is listed, and burgers/fried chicken were relaunched in late 2024—useful for early kick-offs or after the final whistle. Beer choice is strong for matchdays too: multiple changing cask lines from independent breweries plus beers from its in-house Wear Beer microbrewery are recorded by CAMRA. Football Ground Guide notes that many city-centre pubs are suitable for away fans, which fits Ship Isis’s neutral city-centre profile.
Superb scran! I jumped at the opportunity to try Nobody out when I saw they were open early for a matchday as they've been on my list for a while. Although I was hoping to have their 'Texas Sun' burger but they only had a limited menu for pre-match. What I ended up getting though was absolutely bangin. I had the 'Duel Burger' and 'JFC Slingers'. Every bite was devine. The burger was simple but effective. Perfectly cooked smashed patties, a light soft bun, fresh onions and plenty of sweet pickles just the way they should be. The chicken tenders may have just about been the star of the show though. Some of the best I've ever had. A beautiful light flaky coating with amazing crunch. I had my favourite pairing of ranch and BBQ dips to elevate my enjoyment of them too. The pub itself is pleasant, very traditional looking. The girl who served me was really friendly too. I definitely hope to have another fix of Nobody's food again in the future. It's a must try for any burger lovers in the Sunderland area.
Excellent selection of beers, stunning food, place is very well kept for its age. Lovely atmosphere. A staple pub in Sunderland for sure.
Brilliant, old fashioned pub with a superb selection of hand pull ales and real ciders. It also has a good wine and spirit selection. The atmosphere is friendly and it can get busy. I like the food which is mainly burgers and battered chicken pieces with fries. The staff are very friendly.
Always been a decent pub but the beer selection and quality of food is getting better and better. Always rotating keg lines to suit every taste plus a lot of craft cask, and also cans. The food is amazing. Everything. I have tried the pizzas, chicken, burrata salad and different types of the loaded fries and they are all out of this world. My favourite place to eat in town right now.
Fine old pub with rooms either side of a central corridor MIND THE STEP and possibly some room upstairs too. Lots of wood. I had a very good pint of Rudgate Chieftan on my visit and a tasty burger and chips which I thought was a little expensive at £12.50.
