📍 0.8 miles from Stadium of Light
City-centre location a short walk from Park Lane Interchange makes it easy for match-goers to get in and out on Metro/bus. It’s popular on match days and serves food (including breakfasts/lunches), useful for early kick-offs. The pub shows a wide range of sporting events (sports TV and split-screen), so fans can watch live football before or after heading to the Stadium of Light. Cask-led with a house beer from Darwin and frequent guest lines, it attracts a broad football crowd rather than just one set of supporters—consistent with guidance that most city-centre venues in Sunderland accept away fans.
Went here for lunch and found a lovely bar with a busy, vibrant feel and full of atmosphere. Excellent and large selection of ales and a good food menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Absolutely cannot fault it on any metric. Had food again yesterday and the service and food were exceptional. Delicious burger and amazing chips. Good prices too. Definitely a go to in Sunderland.
I had a group meeting here today first time in the pub and I will be back the food was delicious and we had great service and a nice cosy corner to sit and chat thank you so much
This is a great pub for real ale and character. Casta making his first visit, I have been before. A CAMRA 2023 Good Beer Guide entry. I had their house beer by local Darwin brewery. Fairly large interior with great decor. Beer patio in front. Gets rammed on a match day and thus has a match day menu. Opens at 10am so good place for a breakfast buttie.
spent many matchdays in here and it’s a sensational pub to come and visit from its many screens to sensational interior there’s not many traditional pubs like this in the city
Great pub for pre or post match drinks. Never tried the food but the beers are good and the staff are always friendly and on the ball even when irs busy.
