Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is worth visiting for the history alone. It is carved into the rock under Nottingham Castle and the cave rooms make it feel properly old and atmospheric, not just “old style” decor. You can imagine the centuries of stories in there, including links to crusaders. Food is alright and the place could look a bit smarter in spots, but that is not really why you come. It is more about having a drink somewhere genuinely different and full of character. Not perfect, but memorable and definitely worth a stop.

Fantastic old haunted pub with real character and lots of wee rooms to investigate. I love traditional old (country) pubs & living in Glasgow they are very few & far between so it was great to visit this place when down visiting friends. Nice outdoor areas as well. Good range of drinks/beers as well as cocktails. You can order from your table using QR code. Does get very busy but it’s understandable as to why.

After visiting the castle and surroundings places stoped here 1st just to take photos and check out the pub but ended up having late afternoon meal. The food was tasty and the atmosphere gives it a cosy and nice vibe. Best was seeing people talking and not with their faces glued to the phones. It's a little tight inside but that's what gives the pub a charm, combined with it beenig carved into the hillside. The staff was very nice, good service. The pub was clean and despite beeing full no bad smells inside. The bar offers a nice variety of drinks. Outside seating with plenty of tables and an inside smaller court. The outside seating comes in handy in warm sunny days to enjoy food and drinks with friends or family. There's on street paid parking next to the pub. Will be returning when visiting Nottingham again.

Apparently the public house that the Knights Templar and crusaders stopped for a pint on their Holy Quest to Jerusalem... nesting in Nottingham Castle caves dug out of the Sandstone. 16:30 on a Saturday night, and the pub and outdoor space was bustling with drinkers in the Spring sunshine. We bought a beer in the Ward room bar, and ordered food on the Green King app. Super efficient on such a busy day. The duck was fantastic and burger full of meat. A 2nd pint of Ye Old Trip went down well too.

My dear departed mum frequently mentioned Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem - ever since I was a teenager in the 1970s. She might have visited back in the late 1930s early 1940s. Was so glad the pub is still thriving and had heard the Steak and Ale pie was good so was a no brainer to order. Must say was not disapointed on my Thursday lunchtime visit. The pie had that lovely 'sag' around the bottom, pastry perfect and delicious contents. Came with tasty gravy, seared cabbage and crispy chips. All piping hot & fresh tasting. Staff were great - helpful and friendly. The pint of cask Old Peculier was a bonus - delicious. Of course the pub is unique in itself - full of history, built into the rock. I've had a few duff pub meals recently elsewhere but my trip to Ye Olde Trip to Jersusalem has restored hope! The whole experience has made my day!
