📍 1.1 miles from The City Ground
In Nottingham city centre, the Salutation is handy for matchdays: CAMRA’s WhatPub lists it as close to Nottingham railway station (about 600m) and Old Market Square tram, making it an easy pre- or post-match stop. It also serves food (see the pub’s own menu), so fans can grab a bite before heading to the City Ground or Meadow Lane. An away-fan guide for Swansea City specifically lists Ye Olde Salutation Inn among city-centre pub options for visiting supporters, indicating it’s a neutral spot where both home and away fans drink. WhatPub also notes a strong real-ale offering, which helps with quick service when it’s busy on matchdays.
Great place. We stopped by for a few beers and tried the food, absolutely amazing and great value. We had the chicken tenders with American cheese and scampi and chips, great portion size. Saw others have the burger which looked nice. Great jukebox with just about every genre of music. Service was great made to feel welcome. Highly recommend it.
Classic Pub. Billed as one of the oldest in the country. Might be, because the interior especially the snugs look right from the 1200s. Place just feels historical. Good pint, good selection of spirits. Possibly some actual spirits.
Interesting place. Plenty of different drinks on offer. Music and ambiance is as expected for what it advertised itself as. Sadly some of the clientele makes this place less than appealing. Toilets are basic and used for more than they should be. Fecal ridden toilet brush in the sink and broken glass in the toilet itself. Can't comment on food as we didn't order any.
There is a cave with a well under this Inn that we went too with our ghost tour, it was an eary place and when we went back up and popped in at the bar they had all these never seen before beers with interesting names and their decor was just as eary and ghostly. We had some beers and just checked out all the cool decor. The beer was cold, the atmosphere was great and fun, the service was excelent and when you order a beer it comes in a glass with the beers name on it. This was a really fun place to visit and have some drinks, go on spoil yourself, go there, you deserve it!!!! Mabe you will see a ghost, wouldnt that be spectacular.
Very cool Pub said to be the oldest in England. Reasonable prices considering location and what they probably could charge being attached to a major tourist attraction. Great selection of beer and very cool to see it carved into the side of the mountain that Nottingham castle sits on.
