📍 0.7 miles from The City Ground
Brewery tap a short walk from Nottingham Station, the Vat & Fiddle sits on the typical walking route to the City Ground and is used by match-goers, making it a handy pre-/post-match stop. Away-day guides list it among city-centre options for visiting supporters, and the connected Old Cold Store hosts fan-focused events (including a Nottingham Forest fan zone launch). The pub also shows live football on TV (e.g., England v Netherlands during Euro 2024), so you can catch the early kick-off before heading to the ground. Expect a wide range of Castle Rock beers and straightforward pub food service—useful on busy matchdays.
I came here with a friend for the first time last week... I only had time to stay for one hour...my friend used to come here in the past...I can see why... It looks like it's a great live venue for bands and artists... There's also a large outside seating area at the rear of the Vat which looks as if it would create a brilliant atmosphere when full ... There's a food menu which looks very reasonable... The staff are friendly and helpful... I'm coming here again sometime soon...
Lovely place, lovely lady behind the bar,30% off can's on a Monday, attached to the current castle rock brewery and few minutes from the railway station, most recommended
Nice pub with friendly staff and good outdoor seating. It’s very close to the train station and has a nice retro vibe inside.
We just popped in for a drink on the way into town on a weekday afternoon so not busy. Service quick and friendly. Beer well kept and good juice
It's not big but it's got a squillion beers on tap. Staff when I went were lovely (mid-week evening). Atmosphere also friendly. Meeting rooms ok. Nice place to pop in, bit 'off the beaten track' but actually very handy for whiling away a bit of time while waiting for the train or meeting friends if you want to be accessible for city centre but not in the actual mayhem. Very recommendable.
