About this Pub

The Mayfair Pub & Kitchen

Why it's great for Matchdays

City-centre and inside The Gate, The Mayfair positions itself as a live-sports venue with 10+ screens and multiple projectors, and it has Sky Sports, BT Sports and Amazon Prime installed, so televised fixtures are routinely shown. They publish live listings and run matchday deals on food and drinks, with a daily food offer from their kitchen—useful for groups before or after the game. Newcastle’s fan guides note that pubs across the city centre generally admit away supporters, making it a convenient neutral spot for mixed groups on matchdays.

The Mayfair in Newcastle made my friend’s 30th birthday so special. The food was delicious and the cocktails were amazing - even found my new favourite drink. I will be back!

Fantastic pub, my favourite in Newcastle. The staff made so much effort to ensure me and my work colleagues had a fantastic festive / birthday celebration. Food was amazing and drinks were outstanding. Staff were extremely friendly , helpful and went out of their way to make our afternoon special.

Booked here for a Saturday lunch time. There was 11 of us so I gathered everyone’s order to take to the till to make it easy. The woman behind the bar wearing a white top with tattoos seemed to be inconvenienced by me from the get go. It’s a loud pub with loud music and I had to repeatedly say pardon as I could not hear her (the place also wasn’t that busy). I tried to lean over the bar but unfortunately I am pregnant so my stomach prohibited me from doing so. At no point did she speak up. Just repeated everything in the same monotone voice and when I apologised for not being able to hear her she said it’s fine while not looking at me and huffing. I’m not sure exactly what I did to offend her. The pub food is basic but as expected. The cheesy chips had a slither of cheese on which we asked the waitress if we could have more and she happily obliged. So there are a couple of nice waitress’.

Wow, it just keeps getting better every time we visit! As we walked in to get a table we were greeted by a lovely woman who couldn’t have been anymore friendlier. We visited for the half price food on a Wednesday as we have for the last few weeks and honestly we wouldn’t go anywhere else now! Huge, hot portions, credit to your wonderful staff.
