Matchdays are easy here: the pub promotes live football specifically and shows Sky Sports/TNT fixtures on big screens, creating a match-day atmosphere. Independent listings also note several screens with live football shown. Being beside Haymarket Bus & Metro Station makes it a convenient central rendezvous before or after the game. Food is served every day with full menus, so groups can get a pre-match meal or post-match bite without leaving the action. In short, it’s a city-centre sports pub with all-day food and wall-to-wall televised football—ideal for gathering, watching earlier kick-offs, or celebrating after the final whistle.
Toilets are terrible, you must scrape your hand through other people's muck to try to get a bit of soap. Cloud in the air that makes your eyes water. Overly worn furniture, manic music, bad food. Speed metal, followed by Cher from the 90s, followed by current pop. Hasn't any one told the owner you can't please everyone? 5 bites of steak, had to spit out 3 due to gristle. Needed another drink due to bad food, staff took my nearly full plate away.
Rolled up here before I went to a concert. I arrived at half past 3 and ordered a trio of daft pies with mash only to be told that there are only 2 pies left and no mash as I came late on in service...... 3:30? Whyyyyyy ayyyyyye. So i ordered a katsu topped fries instead which were actually pretty tasty.Anyhoo the food took about 40 mins or so to arrive as they were busy prioritising deliveries as chains do these days. Greene king standard food it was alreet. Beers were good especially the yard bird and the local rabble chilling outside were top people watching. Would visit again if I needed too lol.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food there! Don't get me wrong, it will never win a Michelin star but was decent pub grub! Reasonably priced £10 for the meal with a drink! Can't grumble! The atmosphere is good and the location, (just outside of Haymarket Metro station) means it's a good place to start a night out! The service was great and the staff were very friendly!
After the superlative GK pub, "The County" in Gosforth, we next came here. Chalk n cheese says Alic. Three real ales but only one available on a Tuesday. A Pennine 4.2% dark amber Rocky Road. Very good. The pub has a Cask Marque. Very much a city centre bar lacking character. Lots of TV's. Standard Greene King food offering.Boothroyd knows there are better pubs nearby. Pub split over two floors.
Great pub grub, fairly priced and always loads of space upstairs. Happy to take reservations also, hosted for 7 people several times. Update: Every time we go in now there are homeless people smoking drugs outside. Had one come into the bathroom and try to start a fight, guy didnt even close the door to use the bathroom.
