About this Pub

The Crown & Kettle

Why it's great for Matchdays

For Etihad trips, away-fan guides recommend using city-centre pubs on the east side — and specifically name the Crown & Kettle — as safe pre-match bases before walking or hopping the Metrolink to the stadium. It’s centrally located within walking distance of the main rail stations and tram/bus interchanges, which makes meet-ups and post-match travel straightforward. The pub also screens live sport (e.g., their Six Nations coverage), so early/late kick-offs can be watched. Add a large, regularly changing cask and keg selection and you’ve got a solid, away-friendly matchday stop close to routes toward the Etihad.

We stopped by the Crown & Kettle on a Sunday evening around 6:30pm and it was surprisingly calm and relaxed. What I liked most was that it felt more like sitting in a café than a busy pub - quiet enough to have a proper chat without shouting over the crowd. They've got an impressive range of craft beers on tap. I tried the Juice Forsyth, a fruity IPA at 5%, which was really enjoyable - refreshing without being too heavy. The Guinness, on the other hand, was just average. It wasn't bad, but definitely not at the level of the one you'd get at Mulligans. Overall, it's a cozy spot if you're looking for somewhere laid-back with a wide beer selection and a calmer atmosphere than your usual city pub.

Been to this pub a few times over the years, always busy. Lots of seating outside, great if your going to Frog and bucket across the road

Stripped-back pub in a heritage building serving over 24 taps of craft and cask beers from across the UK and beyond. Cosy atmosphere and several distinct seating areas make for a snug vibe.

Service great, beer choice really good, staff lovely, modernised since I last went in years ago but still maintains it's original charm. Loses a point as it had some weird/rude locals. Great boozer nonetheless
