About this Pub

The Salisbury

Why it's great for Matchdays

Steps from Manchester Oxford Road station and close to St Peter’s Square Metrolink, The Salisbury is a convenient city-centre base on matchdays with easy tram/train connections across Manchester. It serves pizzas daily (with stated serving times) so you can grab pre- or post-match food, and keeps late opening hours (to 2am Fri–Sat), making it a practical spot after evening kick-offs. The pub is known for multiple changing real ales, which appeals to travelling supporters looking for a proper pint before heading to the ground or back to the station.

Busy and loud even at 4.30pm on a Tuesday in mid October. This was a visit for nostalgia purposes, returning after almost 50 years. A good range of well kept beers and a range of homemade pizzas provided an interesting jog to the memory. It's also now a thriving live music venue ideally located close to Manchester universities.

My favourite pub in North England. Been coming here for years, everytime I visit Manchester i come here. Lovely staff, great choice of Ales. Great outdoor area. Metal jukebox. The pizzas are amazing (I personally recommend the goats cheese pizza or the Meat Feast. Amazing). And even better, if you have a gig ticket for certain venues in Manchester that evening, you get 20% off drinks and food. Amazing place!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A real proper pub with a lively but good natured atmosphere on a Saturday evening. I met up with friends for an evening catching up and visiting pubs in central Manchester. We actually stayed in the Salisbury next to A A Oxford Road station the whole time as nearby Peveril was too packed when they'd got there and trip leader David estimated that everywhere would be too busy. The Salisbury was very busy and increasingly loud (Saturday night) but a nice pub, they got a table and the beer was excellent. Pints of Trooper, a bit strong but very well kept. Good choice of other drinks. A real mix of patrons of all ages, sex and type.
