📍 1.6 miles from Etihad Stadium
A central, screen-filled pub that shows live football on Sky and TNT Sports, it works well as a neutral meet-up before and after games. It’s just ~300m from Manchester Oxford Road station and ~600m from St Peter’s Square Metrolink, making it easy for supporters to gather in the city centre and head out to matches (e.g., many visiting fans use the city centre before taking Metrolink to the Etihad). Historically it’s also been a recognised stop for travelling supporters (QPR fans), reinforcing its away-friendly credentials while remaining a general sports pub for all. Bookable tables for big games help ensure a spot on matchdays.
Popped in on a Wednesday afternoon for a Guinness..less said about that the better. Heard the pub had been done up recently, some nice artwork on the walks but all the lovely upholstered seats have been replaced by pretty uncomfortable hard backed furniture...service was very friendly. Note to Greene King..maybe some of the refurbishment budget for the gents toilet...they are grim and haven't changed in nearly 30 years!
I really liked this pub. Went on a Friday night, the place was buzzing. Took the dog in with us and he loved the attention. Good selection of drinks. Had some food here and that was nice too. Had the trio of chip and then some sharing platters. Staff were all nice and friendly. A live band we’re starting just as we left, but unfortunately didn’t see them. Highly recommended.
Only visited due to the pub having a hidden Doctor Who link which I don't think many people know about. The pub is the inspiration for a location used in the Dr Who animation Scream of the Shalka, pub looks exactly the same! Friendly with great exterior and interior with relaxing atmosphere and food
Great pub, went to watch the football. Dog friendly, nice staff, good offers via the app and the atmosphere was warming. We will be back!
This is an iconic bar but from my past memories you could see the casks brewing the beer on site but I couldn't see them. It was also smaller than I remember with less seating.
