📍 1.4 miles from Selhurst Park
For supporters basing themselves around the Crystal Palace Triangle on matchday, The Alma works as a solid pre-match rendezvous: the pub runs a full kitchen with clearly published hours and menus, so you can get a proper meal before heading to Selhurst Park. It also rotates 14 independent beer lines and publishes a current tap list, so you can expect a good pint from reputable breweries. To travel on to the ground, Crystal Palace’s official guide highlights local bus routes 157 and 410 as matchday options toward Selhurst/Norwood Junction/Whitehorse Lane.
Spontaneous meal in Crystal Palace after a long urban walk. Together with my partner we popped in for a half pint after a long day of walking and we ended up staying for a full meal. The service was wonderful, there were many gluten free options (inducing beers!) and the food was incredible. My partner is a chef and was genuinely impressed with the quality and the range of options and pairings. The setting is more a restaurant than a classic pub atmosphere and we really loved it and we will be back despite living on the other side of London. On the pricy side, especially considering the portion sizes are not huge, but totally recommend.
I have visited here twice in the last few weeks. The first for a Sunday roast which sadly had to be sent back due to it being cold. However this was rectified. The starter of pork dumplings deserves a special mention as they were delicious. It was very busy and the service as a result was average. Today I returned with family and we all enjoyed our food although I would say my food was on the warm side rather than hot and the shoestring fries were questionable as they were more of a crisp than a fry. Nonetheless it was tasty and the service was ok. Overall good food and nice environment more than suitable for a casual eating experience would recommend working on food temperature level.
Wonderful atmosphere! Tasty , really tasty food! Nice beer and wine selection! Perfect any day!
We headed to The Alma for a birthday roast after a very disappointing earlier booking at Westow House (out of date online menu, multiple items from menu we were given unavailable etc.) The service at The Alma was wonderful, food delicious and plentiful, and the atmosphere created by other patrons really inviting. I'd definitely go again. Highlights were the flavourful chestnut stuffing and the moist and well seasoned chicken. Only downside was beef could have been pinker - still tender and delicious nonetheless.
A cheeky Vegetarian Roast accompanied by the father good and well known Alma Bloody Mary. Top Trumps! Having not been to The Alma for absolutely ages, we took the opportunity to grab Sunday lunch after the Crystal Palace half marathon. Luckily they had a table for 2 available although booking is definitely recommended as the table plan looked pretty full. It's a welcoming place with friendly staff. If you like a bloody Mary then give theirs a go as it's made with their own infused vodka. Tasty. The vegetarian roast was good and I particularly liked the roast potatoes (crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as they should be!). We didn't have time for dessert but won't be leaving it so long until our next visit for sure.
