π 0.4 miles from Villa Park
Almost on the doorstep of Villa Park (about 100m), The Witton Arms is set up for matchdays: they state they show all live sport and regularly promote Premier League/Villa fixtures on screens throughout the pub, with a huge outdoor screen and extra serving points on busy games. Their updates also advertise street-food traders with food served from mid-afternoon, making it a handy pre-match stop. Posts highlight it's a short walk from Witton station, so it's convenient for fans coming by rail. Note the venue positions itself for home fans on matchdays, creating a claret-and-blue atmosphere right by the ground.
Popped in for post drinks prior to Guns n Roses gig at Villa Park. Despite a Β£2 entrance fee, supposedly because of the gig and which was fair enough, we had an amazing time. Great atmosphere, great service, the bar staff were amazing despite being busy, whilst I didn't have any of the food on offer, it looked great, many people were buying it, it was obviously a special food event because of the gig, but the whole event was well worth the Β£2 entrance, and we were told we could return after the gig for free (got a hand stamp) however we didn't as wed arranged a pick up. I used to live near here and I must say that The Witton Arms has totally transformed itself into a lively and vibrant pub. Well worth a visit!
A nice old place. Shame it was so close to VP. Worth preserving, right in the centre of a vibrant, diverse busy area. No proper beer but the Guinness was ok. Very nice staff. Great kebab takeaway opposite.
Visited on a "normal" quiet day during the week. Cosy atmosphere with friendly staff. Tends to be very crowded on match days and even welcomes away fans. Well worth a visit!
Great place to start your day before an Aston Villa match. Friendly staff and patrons. I'll be back.
We really enjoyed it here before the Newcastle game...usually we use a different pre match pub but wanted to try something new. Was very busy but service was super quick. Great atmosphere, lots of singing. Strongly approved of the jugs of beer, very civilised
